Since when has there been a time lapse needed in between filling your refillable mugs..we are here now and found it to be the strangest thing since one of us didnt like the lemonade light, we dumped it and had to wait 3+ minutes to refill, then my husband drank his entire powerade at once and went to refill it and had to wait 1+ minutes..

1) Not really.
2) Many people would buy one mug and keep refilling and pour the fluid into a larger vessel.
3) This way, they could cheat the system.
4) Per POGO (the comic strip star), "We have found the enemy, and it is us!"

It's Disney trying to save money.... If Disney already has the system where you can only fill an activated mug then why would they put a limit?

Because if they didn't put a time limit then people would just refill their mug and pour it into another cup immeidately and refill so that not everyone in their party had to purchase one.
I still see it happen even with the time limit but at least it has slowed it down a bit.

One awesome observation I've made since the implementation of the RFID mugs is that at least there's not 100 people surrounding the soda fountains at once.

I didn't know about the timer, but I'm not surprised...it just makes good financial sense. If people could refill nonstop, they would lose an ENORMOUS amount of money. Aside from the aforementioned filling of larger vessels, suppose little Johnny changes his mind of his drink so they pour it out and start over. This would add up over time. Disney is just being wise with their resources, and I personally don't blame them!

BTW...we went in 2014 and never knew about this because it always took us longer to drink our coffee than 1 min.! LOL:teeth:

Only the fountain drinks have the timer thing with the chip. Coffee, tea, hot cocoa, iced tea are in dispensers that are not chip activated.

That sounds messy and sticky... :crazy2:

The mugs aren't that big and my son has managed to finish his whole Powerade before the allotted time. I'm shocked the kid doesn't have permanently blue teeth.

Let's remember, with Ogre (I mean Iger), it is profit, and not guest convenience or guest enjoyment.

Really? Name calling because you have to wait 3 minutes to chug a second mug of Coke? This is pretty minor on the list of Disney "penny pinching" and as someone else said, it has the bonus point of keeping lessening traffic at the food courts.

I've avoiding saying something about this, but I agree.

Sorry, but if you are complaining that you can't chug mug after mug of Coke, or PowerAid, maybe you should "chug" a mug of water first.

I'm not complaining, I thought it was rather amusing my son out-drank the machine. In fact, I told him to get some water, he probably was really thirsty. I can't imagine out-drinking the time with a beverage like coke though, way to much carbonation.

Exactly, @missbrooke06! It is a small adjustment that most people won't notice but saves Disney a bundle in the long run. Smart business!!

I am pleased in that I use to have to wait behind people drinking about 3 mugs of drink and think wow! How do they do that! It does keep the line down at the refill. The only time it is annoying is when you make a mistake or the machine dishes out the wrong mix! But waiting a few moments is no big issue. I am amazed at how many people drink say 'oh that mix is running out' then walk off! Why not tell a CM! I always do!

I can't say I am going to find a massive problem with the small wait, but, I do see a bit of a problem, if you are from somewhere where the choices are not familiar. Like, we had refillable mugs last time, and loved them, but, the first time, we wanted to try the things we didn't recognise (cos, you know, it's endlessly refillable, we can try one, not like it and just get a different thing, not like committing to a whole cup of something)
So, we tried a small bit of the root beer, and the lemonade, one we did;t like, one we did, but, had they had the timers, we would have to have remembered to wait three minutes or whatever, to get something different, or to top up the mug having discovered we liked...
It's not a big deal, but I can see me forgetting...

I have wondered about this several times- Are Disney employees cautioned not to bash their employer on the internet or does Disney just let this kind of thing go?

Rusty-Do you not face any sanctions or are you taking your chances? Curious minds want to know.
