Mugs - To do, or not to do . . .

We stayed off site with our then 14 year old and bought a mug at one of the Disney water parks. The mug saved us a ton of money and I know our son drank so much more than usual. He loved being able to walk up and fix his own drink and didn't feel guilty about how much he drank. We rarely do any kind of pop at home so it's a real treat when we are out.

Not to Hijack, but if you do a split stay, can you fill up at both resorts, or do you need to buy 2 mugs?...I'm trying to decide too!

I believe you would only need to buy one mug. When we bought it the CM said it was good for the length of our stay at any resort. There are probably those that will disagree given that the side of the mug says your resort or at least it used to.

I wouldn't try to use it on subsequent trips, but I really don't see a problem with using it at both resorts for a split stay.

Some people say that if Disney really cared, they would try to enforce it - while others say we're affecting Disney's bottom line by 'stealing' drinks if we don't get a new mug every time. It's the same mug at all the resorts, so I don't know that anybody would know to even say anything. And, who cares if you get a drink at resort A or resort F - you got a drink in a mug you paid for.

We have 16 refillable mugs. There are 3 people in our family.

Well, we have 3 people and 25 mugs! (In a few weeks, it'll be 28!) They're starting to take over my kitchen, but there is no way I'm getting rid of any!

I loved having our mugs! We did the QSDP on our last trip and they came with it! The only thing that bothered me was that our resort quit having Cherry Coke half way through our trip, which was bad for me because I love Cherry Coke!

Back in the day, if you stayed at Coronoda and moved to Beach Club, you could trade in your mug from one hotel to the other without a problem. So, I think it's just fine to use the same mug if you switch hotels on the same trip.

I wish they would go back to the hotel specific mugs. I really loved the designs. I have yet to like any of them since they went to the same at every hotel.

I also don't like the shape anymore. I know most like them to fit in the cup holder but I liked the shorter wider versions.

I also wish there were more soda choices. I don't care much for coke or sprite and would love to see rootbeer or mr pibb or even cherry coke. I know some of the hotels have them but we tend to stay at Pop and they don't. But really I LOVE water and want that most of the time. With breakfast I prefer milk.

DH always buys one just to have but I know we don't get our money out of it. We bring a coffee maker for the room, otherwise he would fill it with coffee often.

At the mods sometimes the walk is crazy so we don't always buy one.

Now having said all that, we have tons of mugs, but they are the older ones from the different hotels.

Does anyone know if they have changed the designed yet or is it still the red mugs with the black, red, or yellow lids? We have those and I was hoping for a new design!

I think they are the best deal at WDW. Our last trip we stayed at Pop and we were right behind the cafeteria. It was so nice to be able to refill and go up for a nap, or run in from the pool. We will never NOT buy the mugs. And of course, they are great souvieners.
