I haven't seen this posted yet, but I may have missed it. On the 1/25 Magic Eastern cruise when you paid your $35 you received both a refillable mug AND a sticker on your card for drinks. We didn't figure this out until the second or third day, but we bought two of them then anyway (one for DH and one for DS). DD and I were fine with lemonade. It was very handy, and I would say we broke about even vs. paying for the drinks separately, but we got the cool mugs to take home. Apparently they are paying attention to customer feedback. Nice touch Disney!

This was mentioned very recently on this board...it may have even been another DIS'er from your cruise. It does make sense to have both the sticker and the mug.

We're onboard right now and it's $20 for the 4day, and yes, both mug and sticker. And from what we've seen the mug is optional.

DH and I were on the 1/18 (Western) Magic and I bought a soda mug, but there was no mention of stickers. :( It would have been so nice to just have a sticker on my KTTW card, instead of having to carry the mug all around with me. It did save me from drinking too many of those "tropical drinks" though. :)

or are they doing this to prevent us former cruisers from being able to use a mug from a previous cruise?

I truly hope the sticker stays. Although I don't drink soda at all both of my kids do and this would be really handy. Otherwise they either won't have the mug with them or mom will get stuck lugging it around.

As you guys cruise through the spring keep those of us going later in the year posted please!

I'm a first time cruiser going on the Western 10/12/03 and not really sure what you are talking about. I heard about the soda mug which costs you $5.00 per day (What a pain for my 5 yr. old) But what about this sticker????
What are you talking about mug & sticker?
Could you please fill me in

In the past, when DCL first introduced the flat fee for soda, a sticker was put on the person's card. Originally this was only for kids 12 and under also. Then the program was expanded to everyone regardless of age but in the process the sticker was replaced with a mug you had to lug around.

What was reported at the beginning of this thread is that the sticker is back although in some combination with the mug. Presumably this means the mug becomes a souvenier and the sticker on the KTTW card is what really counts.

Actually we used them interchangeably. If DH or DS wanted a soda when we were in the cabin, they would take the mug to the nearest place to get one and have them filled. They are insulated and kept the drinks cool. We also took them to shows, much easier than an open cup as they have a nice wide base and a lid. If we were walking around the ship, however, we just used the card with the "Coke" sticker on it and they would give us a plastic cup full of soda. It really was awesome to have the option.

If you are using the mug, do you need to show your sticker, also? I would think they would require this, otherwise one person could be using the mug while the other used the sticker.

I just got off the Jan 30th 3 day cruise and the mug program was 15 dollars for the cruise with $5.00 for the optional mug. You did not have to buy the mug to utilize the mug program. Just the sticker they placed on your mug. If you had a previously purchased mug from a past cruise, you could use it and save the $5.00. Still had to pay fort he sticker though.
