Mugs after you use them

I've used a carabiner with mine....attach it to either my belt or a pack if I'm using one. Then, I can use it in the morning, rinse it out, hang it off my belt, and reuse it at lunch rather than toss that refill out.

That's exactly what I do, except it's attached to my purse. On occasion, I'll have a purse that has a removable strap, so I'll hook it onto that. We don't do breakfast - maybe a quick pastry as a grab-and-go - and I can't drink my coffee that fast. So I just take it with me. I find having it makes it easier for me to stay hydrated, since I won't carry around a bottled water with me - too heavy, and I hate the plastic waste. I also won't spend the money on bottled water. If I do buy a drink, I'll rinse out my mug and put the drink in it. I find it more pleasant to drink from the mug than a paper cup. (This is especially true at AK, where straws are not permitted.)

Thanks people. So you are all carrying the mug around all day. I am always trying to minimize what I carry because I am by myself and usually carry a day pack with a poncho and sunblock and wet wipes and camera and my wallet plus usually a book to read at lunch. too much an my back starts to hurt, but that morning coffee would sure be good and I would love an ice tea heading back in the afternoon for my nap!

Honestly, all I carry is a small "swing pack" Coach bag that can be worn around waist or across body. Inside I have camera which is my phone, money and cards, gum, mini sunblock, etc. Sometimes if it is cool out and I have on jeans, everything fits into a small wallet I clip to my jeans loop and stick in my pocket. The mug gets velcroed to the bag or my jeans loop and I walk around without a backpack and without anything in my hands. :)

We have always taken our mugs with us. I always carry a bag with me, not much, just my camera, sunblock, and the kids autograph books and usually my son's DS (who other story - but he is autistic and needs it to help him wait). So I always have that morning cup of coffee, rinse the cups and and usually take a cold drink with us. Once we get to the park and we are done with the drink that we brought with us, I rinse them out and put them into my bag. Sometimes when the kids are done with their lunch they have soda left and we fill up the mugs. I also like having them when we come back from a long day at the parks so we can stop on our way back to our room for another cold drink. It really isn't that big of a deal carrying the mugs. Once empty they're not that heavy and it's nice to have them and not worry about them.

I would take a few extra napkins and stuff them in there after you've dried it. Those will help pick up any residual moisture that you might have missed.

We haven't used our cups too often either but we still enjoy them. To each his own I guess.

That's what I do. I now use a stroller when I go so it hangs off it. But my first two trips it hung off the backpack or fanny pack.

The last two trips to WDW, we stayed at the POP and the mugs more then paid for themselves. On our way to check-into our room we always buy the mugs and fill'em up. My DH is a 'coffee slob', he drinks it no matter how bad it tastes:lmao: or how hot it is and he drinks several cups a day.:sad2:

I am not a soda drinker but i do love the iced Coke so I will fill my mug up and that is what I take to the parks with me. One of us carries a backpack, since we are no longer using strollers and rinse them really well and pop'em in the bag. After lunch, we refill them with the left over drinks and go on our happy little way. In the evening, when we return from the parks, we use the mug rinsing station to really clean them and up to bed we go. :cloud9:

I love the carabiner idea and will steal that for our next trip, as I bought a Vera Bradley fanny pack...so no room in the bag.

All of us are different and you need to do what you are comfortable with, if you do take the mugs and do not like carrying them around, then taking them back to the room would be a good idea.

I do want to say that I hope your WDW trip is fun and magical!:wizard:

sorry to break the news, but they did away with the frozen coke at POP.:confused::guilty: I guess the machines were breaking down too much. how sad.
there was nothing better than filling your mug with froaen coke in the afternooon, thatn adding a little rum...voila! fancy drink! (yes, it's legal to drink your own liquor at the resort)

We stay at POP, and usually for 2 weeks at a time. So the mugs are a great deal for us.

Our strategy is that I get up first and get ready, then head to the food court to fill up with drinks while the kids get ready in the room. We snack breakfast in the room, so it doesn't take us long and we're ready to go.

When we get back in the evening, it's back to the food court for more drinks. It's a great time for us to explore the resort, too. We take some down days in there too, so we really get use of the mugs those days.

We don't bring them to the parks because we don't like to carry bags around.

We're early risers and like to see the resort come to life and enjoy a full breakfast so taking our mugs with us to the food court and enjoying some beverages and then taking them back to the room is no big deal, time wise....we break from the parks every afternoon and enjoy pool picnics, so the mugs go to the pool, our cooler on "other" beverages and we keep refilling them while we enjoy the pool.....

We never take them with us to the parks, just extra unnecessary items and easy to take back to the room, what's a few minutes.....carrying something around the park that has no use and as for leaving a park and going back to the resort....very easy to go to the room and retrieve it for refreshments....we're at the pool mostly anyway and it's close to the refill station..

Sorry for the double post!!!

Last Disney trip was with my sister and brother-in-law. I was way more excited about everything than they were so I'd often be up an hour before they were--gave me ample time to run down to the commissary and bring them up full mugs and breakfast for us to share.

Just hide your mugs in the bushes before you get on the bus. When you get back from the parks they will be waiting for you and you didn't have to carry them around all day.

I have one, if not 2 mugs attached to the strap of my messenger/camera bag at all times in the park. Stick a napkin in the top to keep it from leaking and you are good to go. The weight of an empty mug really won't be that noticable. Then again I normally carry a full nalgene bottle in that spot so I may be biased, but they aren't heavy at all. Sometimes the wife will carry hers instead and she doesn't complaing. She is all about carrying at little as possible, her bag normally holds her rain jacket or a thin sweater, cell phone, and p&s camera and thats it. So for her to add the mug is a big deal, but she doesn't complain about it at all.

That way she has her coffee and I my tea for the morning, and then we grab a few refills at night on the way back to the room as well.

We rinse ours out and either leave them in the car--or bring them in our backpack if we are using Disney transport.

A friend of my just got back from WDW and told me the mugs do not have handles. :confused3

i keep it with me so when I go back to hotel I dont have to go to rm to get it and make extra trips

i use it sometimes in the parks if I get water out of fountain etc

I didn't read all the responses, but here's a little tip.

The mug washing stations do not have soap. Essentially all they provide is water to rinse, which is fine - once or twice, but I like mine cleaned (every couple days, if not every day) so we buy sponges from the dollar store, cut them into smaller cubes, and soak them in dish soap at home. But them in a ziplock and the soap will absorb and dry in the sponge. Then back at your room (or resort mug washing station) simply wet the sponge, and it will suds up, and you can properly clean your mug.

Rooms have disposable cups. I'm the family am drink runner, then xfer them to the disposable cup and go

We have only used the mugs at the resorts and don't like to bring them in to the parks so we don't have to carry them with us or taking them in the car when going somewhere else. However after we are done using them we always clean them by pooring hot water from the drink station and then pooring that water out, because it's best possible way to clean them.
