Serious weighty question of the day! :goodvibes

What do you all do with your refillable mugs after you empty them in the am? I mean I would love to take my mug down and fill it with coffee on my way to the parks in the morning. but then I am stuck with a dirty mug all day until I return to my resort. the idea of going down and getting coffee and then going back to my room to leave it there before going to the parks when I am hurrying to rope drop doesnt make sense to me and carrying a mug around all day I am not going to use seems silly.:confused3 But then when I would like to have a nice clean mug to take a cold beverage back to my room after being in the parks I don't have it because I didn't carry it around all day - and it would be dirty anyway?

Grab a couple napkins with your coffee. Once your done, wipe it out as much as possible or hit the restroom and rinse it out. Take a gallon ziplock with you and put the mug in that in your bag. Now you have a clean mug to get something in when you get back to the resort.

We only take one. I wash it out either at resort or parks. I have a strip of velcro maybe 1 foot long and I took the backing off and stuck the two glued/sticky sides to each other (one loopy and one fuzzy) so I end up with a double sided strip that sticks to itself. I slip it through the handle and through a belt loop or strap of a bag and then stick the two sides of the velcro to each other and the mug will then hang securely from wherever I've left it. I use these strips to attach my carryon to my luggage when wheeling so it is more secure as well.

Also all the food courts I have been to have mug washing stations now. If I am drinking coffee w milk or hot chocolate I rinse it with the boiling water for the tea first - nothing worse than the smell of spoiled milk!

Thanks people. So you are all carrying the mug around all day. I am always trying to minimize what I carry because I am by myself and usually carry a day pack with a poncho and sunblock and wet wipes and camera and my wallet plus usually a book to read at lunch. too much an my back starts to hurt, but that morning coffee would sure be good and I would love an ice tea heading back in the afternoon for my nap!

We leave ours in the car. I know that doesn't work for people that use Disney transportation, but thought I would share that for people that have their car.

We only had 1 mug and only carried it with us a couple of times. It was easier to bring it back & leave it on our room. We preferred leaving the mug in our room while in the parks. It wasn't a big deal to retrieve the mug from our room and have it filled on the evenings I wanted a drink after we were back from the parks.

I usually run them back to the room after breakfast before we get on the bus....but the last trip there were a few times where we just carried them around in the back pack. Four mugs!

We have carried our around all day before, we attached them to our bag/backpack/stroller with one of my hair elastics..it was no big deal. Having them handy was good for lunch or dinner because if one of the kids didn't finish their drink we would pour it right in and get going..:cool2:

being one who is also carry much less to the parks these days I've changed my attire to help as well as the size of my park camera if I'm only planning on regular park pics. I wear cargo pants and a belt. I have room in the pockets for that tiny camera and a small billfold, crystal light packets and pins to trade (maybe) and a trail mix bar. and disposable poncho. I also have a clip that holds a water bottle and take an extra clip for my mug (cleaned after breakfast and filled with ice). I re- fill that mug at lunch so I have a cool drink through out the day to stay hydrated, the one bottle of water I have with me re fills by lunch time as well. I used to carry so much stuff I had a back pack, but this old back says NO MORE!Sunglasses and sunblock(pocket size) and a ball cap finish the collection of "stuff".by the time I'm ready to go back to sleep my mug is empty and I just rinse it out. We rarely go back to the mug station at night.

Typical day: Take mugs to food court, use during breakfast. Rinse if needed, refill with iced tea or soda pop, go back to the room and stuff them in the mini-fridge. We stay at a moderate so the bus stop is closer to the room than the food court/main building area.

Come back from park mid-afternoon, go straight to room, have that cool drink waiting for us. Might then take the empty mugs back to the food court to refill and take to the pool, or even just refill & sit in/near the food court area to rest and chat. At any rate, last thing we do is refill one more time, go back to the room, & stuff the full mugs in the fridge before heading out to dinner/evening park.

So when we get back from the park at night, no matter how late, we again have a cool drink waiting! The next morning, rinse and repeat. If not eating in the food court (brought home leftovers or bakery goodies for breakfast in the room), the first one up takes all the mugs to the food court, fills them, and brings them back.

We buy new mugs every trip but Disney does NOT make money off us. Including times when we are sitting in the food court eating or just having a mid-afternoon break, we are easily refilling those mugs 5-6 times/day. For 10 days.

I've used a carabiner with mine....attach it to either my belt or a pack if I'm using one. Then, I can use it in the morning, rinse it out, hang it off my belt, and reuse it at lunch rather than toss that refill out.

We used to just leave them in the pouch on our strollers, but we are now stroller free-subsequently we discovered it is better just to keep some drinks cold in our room to grab on our way out in the morning instead of dealing with the mugs

I bought one when I stayed at Pop and thought it was kind of a hassle, and I am not a big soda drinker, so the 1 or 2 mugs of coffee we managed to force down [shudder, that Nescafe stuff is grody] was all we used it for. We took turns going to get coffee while the other one dressed inthe morning, and cleaned the cup and left it in the room.

When we stayed at CBR, I got some disposable, lidded coffee cups and we made our own coffee in the room and carried & tossed our cups. That worked out much better for us.

Main reason I wouldn't spend my money on one.

Exact same thing for me. I really wanted to get one this last trip, but we were staying at the CR in the Garden Wing - I didn't want to take it all the way back to the room after breakfast.

I took ours to the parks with us. We would fill it up on our way to the van and then when we got to the park I would wash it out. Then we would use it for water while at the parks. We would get cups of ice water and put it in the mug. It kept it cold for a while and DH, DS & I shared it.

I will say we did have 1 to 5 guests come up to us each day and ask us how we were able to use the mugs in the park. Um we filled it with water. There's nothing saying you can't use the mugs in the park - just that you don't get free soda in the parks.

I have a small backback that I like for in the parks that can fit two mugs so we get our morning beverage, wait for bus, wipe out with a napkin then put in the backback. I also like to bring waterbottles to the parks, they can fit upside down inside the mug (about an inch or two of the waterbottle will be sticking out of the top), but it all fits into the backpack. There is a separate pocket for camera, tickets etc so the mugs are not in the way. Then on our way back to the room, we stop at the food court and refill them.

Main reason I wouldn't spend my money on one.

I wouldn't buy one either, but it comes with the DxDP which I am doing so I'll be getting one. I don't anticipate using it though for the exact problems the OP mentioned. When we come back from breaks maybe we'll fill it up to take to the pool but who knows. We are staying at POR and usually like to go to the quiet pools so it would be out of the way to go to the food court. If you could re-fill the mugs in the parks it would be a whole different story but it's not worth bringing them into the parks if they can't be filled there IMO.

The last two trips to WDW, we stayed at the POP and the mugs more then paid for themselves. On our way to check-into our room we always buy the mugs and fill'em up. My DH is a 'coffee slob', he drinks it no matter how bad it tastes:lmao: or how hot it is and he drinks several cups a day.:sad2:

I am not a soda drinker but i do love the iced Coke so I will fill my mug up and that is what I take to the parks with me. One of us carries a backpack, since we are no longer using strollers and rinse them really well and pop'em in the bag. After lunch, we refill them with the left over drinks and go on our happy little way. In the evening, when we return from the parks, we use the mug rinsing station to really clean them and up to bed we go. :cloud9:

I love the carabiner idea and will steal that for our next trip, as I bought a Vera Bradley fanny pack...so no room in the bag.

All of us are different and you need to do what you are comfortable with, if you do take the mugs and do not like carrying them around, then taking them back to the room would be a good idea.

I do want to say that I hope your WDW trip is fun and magical!:wizard:
