Muddy Buddy Training!

Hey guys. My Mom called today and got us t-shirts. I got 4 large and 2 XL. I'll get them asap and ship them to each of you. As soon as I need your info I will let you know. She could only get white shirts, hopefully that is okay. If you would all rather get something a little more colorful, we can order them from GKTW or design our own online. Thoughts??

That's awesome!!!! :cool1::banana:

Thank you so much for the shirts!

I was just telling ADP today that I am just so excited to be running/biking in this race! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I was thinking of getting the spectators to donate to GKTW to receive or not receive a hug from me after the race when I am covered head to toe in mud. :lmao:

Pay me (for GKTW) and you won't get a muddy hug! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Okay. So I went home last night after work and I walk one mile and ran .50 miles.

I did pretty good.

I am a little sore today in my shins and legs, but not bad. I decided to take a day off and rest.

I plan to run every other day. Is that what you guys recommend?
That's a good plan Chris. Running every other day seems to work for me as well.

I'm alternating running and biking. Sunday is usually the day of rest, but this week it was Saturday. Right back at it tomorrow. :)

My training will be a little messed up this week. I have to take a physical fitness test at work to add to my promotion paperwork. It's not wise to work out prior to the test, your body needs to be fully recovered and be able to perform at peak levels. The problem is I don't know what day of the week my unit plans on giving the test! It's no big deal, it just throws my routine out of whack for a few days. :headache:

I'm guessing your in peak enough shape to do without a few days of heavy workouts :thumbsup2

I didn't get any real workout in yesterday other than lugging a 12 gauge around for 4-5 hours. I got in a lot of walking, hopefully I have time to get some biking in today at least.

Hey Everyone:

Jen- Thank you so much for putting us over the $1,000 line in our fundraising efforts.

Chris- I think running every other day is fine. Don't try to build up too fast or you might injure yourself. Keep an eye on that shin pain, and use ice if it lingers for a while.

Don- Kill anything, or are you just part of the Michigan Militia? Thanks for arranging the shirts. As far as white shirts go, I have to say after doing a number of races - it's really hard for spectators to see people in white shirts. You'd be surprised at how many white shirts are in the crowd, and you really blend in. Not that I'm trying to stand out, but it is nice for family and friends to be able to find you in the crowd. I do really appreciate the effort though. Maybe I can do a little digging - there are some places that make race shirts.

Paul- Good luck with your physical fitness test. It sounds like it's a pretty big deal for your promotion. Good luck.

Aaron- How's the running going?

Todd- Sounds like your training is going well. What are you doing today running or biking?

Heck ya I was a pheasant kill'en machine!

I wasn't sure about the white either, I'm dealing with my Mother down in Florida so it was a little "difficult". I'm up for getting shirts ordered to stand out and to display our cause. I wouldn't mind having names/nicknames on the back either. Thoughts??

How about lime green (DIS color)? with the GKTW logo on the back maybe?

Yeah, I like the idea of having names on the shirts too. I'll look into it. The WISH team has gotten shirts from the company below before, and they're really nice. I was thinking the bright orange would stand out and would kind of match the DIS Unplugged orange.

I like them, but I'm more of a t-shirt guy. The cool-t looks good. If everyone else wants the tank style I guess I could manage for the race, but I would wear a t-shirt again after the race, just not a tank.

Good luck Paul. I'm sure your competitive drive will carry you to be the best you can be.

Good work Todd. Keep it up.

Hey Everyone:
Chris-Aaron- How's the running going?
It's been going ok. I've noticed some soreness in my knees the last few days so I've skipped a usual day of running to allow my knees to recover. They feel much better this morning. So, despite the gloomy weather I'll be out gracing the neighbors with my killer body..... :rotfl: Yea right!

Wanna weigh in on the shirts? I agree with Dave and think we should go ahead and order some.

Yea...I'm ok with ordering the shirts. I just didn't want to get in the way of any planning or work you guys may have already done.

I also like the idea of having our nicknames/screen names on the back. ADP is short and big letters ROCK! Going with separate, bright colors is a good idea. As Dave already mentioned we don't want to participate in the "white out". Although, by the end of the race the only color we may see is brwon.....Muddy brown! LOL!

We haven't done any planning yet, so I just wanted to get opinions from all 6 and then we can look to get an order placed.

Do you guys think it would be okay if maybe we asked Corey to make us a design involving GKTW and the DIS on the front of the shirt?

T-Shirts or tanks?

Another thing to consider for the shirt is I'm thinking they are going to get ruined by the mudpit. So we may not want to invest too much in them. Maybe we could get tanks to run the race in, and then a t-shirt to change into afterwards (that wouldn't get ruined in the mud).

We can ask Corey to see if he could do a design for the Muddy Buddy, but I know he's busy making designs for the cruise. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Here's another option. This is a company my step sister-in-law runs. She does custom embroidery/screenprinting, and I bet we could get shirts from them. We could send her the design, and she could get it silk-screened onto shirts.

Here's a lime green that would stick out for sure.

I like the idea of getting them from someone we know, then it will be quicker and easier. Do you want to run with this and your SIL Dave? If you want I can email GKTW for a logo and/or Corey and see if he can give us a DIS/GKTW Logo? I'm okay with getting a second shirt to change into, something I can wear later on the cruise and/or while training for my next race :) Todd...you and I in Detroit?

Sure, I can run with this. I'll contact my SIL. They do really good work, and I'm sure we could do a combination of tank tops and t-shirts if we wanted. I can also run things by GKTW and Corey. I've already been talking with them both for different reasons: fundraising and coming up with a logo for the marathon team.
