Yup, mud. I took this at the oyster beds on Hilton Head Island recently and kind of liked it. I will have to get rid of the reflection/glare towards the bottom, but other than that I thought it was interesting. Critiques very much welcomed.

imo it's interesting, wonder what it would look like slightly on the diagonal and if making it b&W would bring out the contrast a little more.( i can never figure out how to copy a photo or i would have played around with it then suggested it only if it looked even better:rotfl: ) i have a couple photos i took with just a shallow layer of water over the ocean floor and you see some of the rippled effect but not as much as here
 
I think there is no sure fire solution. When you have wet or shiny curved surfaces there will surely be some parts where light will reflect at your camera unfavorably.

You can try shooting at a different angle or try a polarized filter over your camera lens (try the latter at different angles of rotation).

You could try taking another shot at a slightly different angle where isolated objectionable reflections don't show up and also trying to cut and paste portions of one picture onto another still matches up.
