OK, so Airtran has their schedule out now. I personally am going Dec 9-16. I know since I am flying Sat-Sat, that the prices are going to be a bit higher. Airtran is currently $257 for the flights I would take.

So do those prices make any of you want to buy right now?

I know fuel is a huge cost and is the biggest wild card right now. However, I am looking at the fares for June and July. Looking at NWA and Sun Country, there are some flights...non-stop and good times too!...that are selling for as low as $217.

Now I would have pegged June and July to be busier travel months to MCO with families taking school age kids, than early-mid December before the Xmas break.

It kinda stinks having to play this game...guess which time to jump on board the airfare train.

I think I am going to wait a little longer...even though it drives my organized planning self completely bonkers.

I personally don't think that Airtran will sell out of their lowest fares very fast at your dates. They are not peek travel times since they are not holidays, so waiting would be a decent thing to do. Airtran won't come down much, but you can keep an eye on SC and NWA hoping for a deal. SC has been so hard to read lately....

Best of luck.

I already have my airfare - for 11/24 to 12/2. I did book airtran and got a fare of $237 for RT non stop. I'm OK with the fare and the times and since we're traveling over Thanksgiving weekend, I'm glad I booked when I did. The lower price fare for the flight to MCO are sold out now.

Mary - When I checked your dates for the non-stop flights, I also got RT $237, so you must have chosen a connecting flights for at least one leg of your trip. I agree with duds - you can wait a while yet (really understand about wanting to have this taken care of,LOL). I think now that NWA has most of its labor contracts renegotiated, they will have a sale for your dates. Some articles have tlaked about them adding some flights - assuming that fuel prices stabilize. I'm not too optimistic that SC will have a sale for any Saturday - Saturday departures, but you never know.

One thing you can do is keep an eye on Airtran while you wait - assuming you like the flights. I suggest checking daily (like you don't already), but pretend you need seats for 9 people - the max available for online booking as one reservation. That might give you a heads up if the fare you are hoipng for is getting close to sold out.

Good luck!

We always go the beginning of December, the 6th thru the 20th this year, and usally don't buy until August or September. Over the last 5 years we have averaged around the $200 area. Keep looking though because last year in June we were able to get our times on NWA for only $150.

I can wait...I don't like it...but I can wait. I'd really like something under $250, but I don't know how realistic that is...but those June and July fares give me a little hope. Right now, my ideal flight times on NWA are something outlandish like $439 per person and SC is hovering around $320. Ick.

Carol...I check at least twice a day. :thumbsup2 Can't help it. :teeth:

pugdog...would love it if I can snag something like you go last year...but I won't hold my breath.

I'm not going to hold my breath either, but do hope that I can get low $200 atleast.

I purchased non-stop tickets on Airtran for the end of September for 227.10 each. That includes taxes and fees.

I booked them on 4/21. I got an email saying they were having a 'sale' and booked shortly after. :)

I was getting worried about gas prices so when I saw that fare I booked it. I was happy with it since it is out of MSP.

Just be reminded that AirTran has moved to the Humphrey Terminal! We found this out the hard way this morning when I dropped my dad off for his flight back to Chicago. I guess this has changed in the past month....because his last visit came through the Lindburgh Term.

We fly AirTran to MCO in 14 days, $211 RT (?).

9 days/8 nights at FW cabin with 3 kids (15 mos, 2 1/2 yrs, 11 yrs).

Any advice for a MN guy who isn't fond of heat and humidity???

-thanks,
MN WDW noobs.

They just moved to HHH terminal on May 19 so it's a very new move. I got an email about though and my flight to Chicago isn't until July.

Take it from this 275lb man who hates heat, make sure to drink lots of water and alternate inside and outside attractions. Make sure to take advantage of strolling through air conditioned shops as you walk to your next destination.. in fact, slow down by the open doors to shops and you will get a rush of air...

have a great time!
