Holy cow...I guess I didn't realize how much airfare was on a Sat-Sat trip. Last couple years we have gone Weds-Weds, well because I like a good bargain and hey it was a pretty darn good deal to pay around $210 per person.

But now Sat-Sat is fitting the family better. We are getting prepped for the Dec 2006 trip and I am looking at airfare going Holy Cow! $327 per person. (Yeah, this is on NWA).

I know it's early, but I am a fare watcher and will jump on a good deal when I see one and usually that's been fairly early in the year when I am going in December. BUT again...that was with my Weds. departures.

So, I know that Sun Country will have fares out in a few months. Frankly, I don't care for Airtran's schedule.

But for little old me who isn't quite up on it...what kind of rates have you gotten for Saturday departures? I think even those of you who go over MEA could probably help me with a little info on what ratesyou have gotten.

Looking forward to reading more...

I am also looking at Nov. 30-Dec. 4 flights. I am finding around $238 for Northwest. My goal is to pay less than $1000 for all five of us to fly. So I too am interested in what everyone else is finding.

Shshshsh.... it's a surprise for all of my family- DH included!

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but less than $1000 for 5 people is going to be very hard to accomplish...especially if you want to fly non-stop. Sometimes Sun Country and rarely NWA will have something less than $200, but that doesn't happen often.

I have been looking forever for Monday, June 5th through Saturday June 17th. Sun Country is 276.00 and Northwest is 339.00. These haven't changed at all. I don't know if they will ever come down. I check the computers daily numerous times.

I know it will be difficult to get it below $1000 for the five of us, but I have gotten air for us for $700-$850 in the past. I'll just have to get it as close to my goal as I can.

We too are on the 'watch' list for good air fare. It just stinks that we rarely have good deals.
We are looking for around Dec 2nd-Dec 9th (a Saturday--Saturday)
We are hoping to pay the max $250 a person. Right now it is between $277 (not very good times though) to $332 for my ideal times.

Here is hoping for some good airfares!
If they don't go down, or God forbid keeps rising, we will not be able to go down to Disney in December :(

Don't I feel your pain.

We also have 5 people, live in minneapolis, and feel like we are slaves to NWA.

I was looking for airfare for our trip 10/14-10/21 (but I was flexible if the price was right on air).

Actually sat.-sat. was the lowest @286/pp. Forget it! I'll take the hassle and fly Airtran. You can easily get 200/pp r/t, and I have seen it go as low as 160/pp r/t. I also have 128 Wendy's cups good for two round trip tickets, to help offset the cost.

The airfare out of MSP has been higher lately, not that we ever get great deals anyways!

Sun Country is my carrier of choice and I would keep an eye on them, though their prices that last few months have been higher that others.

Airtran is offering the best deals, but their schedule isn't great and you most likely won't get a direct flight.

Last trip (June 2005) we paid just over $200pp on Sun Country. Anything around that range you grab in the MSP market.

40 degrees today and SUN! :sunny:

On our trip in December we got airfare on Northwest for 177/pp!!!!

I almost peed my pants I was sooooo excited.

On departure our flight was delayed 90 minutes (they said the crew was late), and on our return our flight was delayed over three hours (many excuses given, none made sense).

So, I figure if I fly Airtran at least I know in advance it will take five hours for a three hour flight (since they aren't usually nonstop), and I can plan accordingly.

This last December we got on NWA for $150 pp :cool1: .
We always go in december and usally get our best prices come August or September. I always start looking in june but it always seems like the best prices come out late summer. We have not paid more then $200 pp in the last 6 years. WE have flown on NWA and AA during this time. :pug:

We flew Sun Country once, and never again. We had a non-stop flight which they turned into a stop-over, and what a stop over. They combined two flights and the plane was packed. The pilot refused to take off unless he dumped fuel, so we dumped. Then we flew from Long Island to JFK (about 40 miles) to re-fuel. But Sun Country didnt have rights at that airport, so we waited and waited and waited.

On the way home, they also combined flights--again not non-stop. What a nightmare!!!! Also, they were not able to honor the seat assignments since there were two flights combined. People were arguing and not very nice. Never again.

When was this? Sun Country went through some problems a few years back, before they closed down. Since they have resurfaced, I have had nothing but excellent experiences with them.

I'm glad to hear that others have had good luck finding air for less than $200pp in the past. I know the fares have gone up the last few months because of the gas prices, etc. but a girl can always hope.

We have flown on Sun Country most of the time to MCO, and never had a problem. We've also flown on AirTran and Northwest and Delta too I guess. I'm hoping for a non-stop.

Good Luck to everyone waiting!

AA had $187 pp from ORD to MCO non-stop Sun to Sun in November a few weeks ago. We are looking for mid December so can't even get a quote yet...

Does anyone know how long it will be until Sun Country has their Dec. fares?
I'm just trying to figure out my budget for this super secret trip.....

Thanks, Michelle
