NBC just cut into regular broadcasts. They had "human intelligence" that he, his sons and some other senior officials were in house in a residential section of Baghdad. They bombed that house and, if they were there, they are dead. They say it will take several days to confirm it.

This sounds pretty good to me...the Fox reporters are saying that the usually caution military officials, while not saying it's definitive, are saying they're fairly confident they got him.

Breaking News started on Fox News about 5 minutes ago, still going. I watched those large explosions live today on Fox, the reporters were remarking on how powerful they were. Apparently, Iraqi officials issued a statement immediately that it was they (the Iraqis) that had fired on "snipers" around the hotel where the Western journalists are housed. Me thinks they protest too much!!!!!

Hopefully it is true! They are reporting that it was a leadership meeting with Saddam and his two sons -- in a residential building, no less. Saddam continued to use and put his own people at risk. And his sons were as evil as he was. Also they think they got "Chemical Ali" too.

If this is true I hope they get proof soon. I think they are acting pretty confident which I don't think they would do unless they were really sure.

Here's hoping that this makes for a quicker end to this war and that the people of Baghdad can have a better life not under this dictator.

We had multiple sources that Saddam and his leadership were meeting in the house that was hit. FoxNews reported that one of the "smoking guns" was a specialized frequency hopping scambled phone system ("Jaguar") that the British sold Saddam during the Iran/Iraq war. It was only used by Saddam and his sons. Put the British gave us the equipment to crack the system. FoxNews reports that there were special ops in the area before the bombing and they were even able to eavesdrop on the meeting and they were discussing escape routes to get out of Baghdad. They also knew that they were meeting in a room above ground and were not in the bunker below the structure. They also reported that the military had three or four "close calls" in the past two weeks where they had good information about Saddams' whereabouts, but not good enough to act on.

The buildings we hit tonight were reduced to dust and there's nothing left but a large crater.

Fox News sources have now updated the report saying the bombing actually took place at 2pm Iraqi time. The media have been showning the crater on TV for some time now saying the US might have missed and hit a possible apartment buliding.

Not to put a damper on this but everyone please remember two things: Saddam is a survivor. He is so paranoid that he could have gone in the front door and right out the back door or through a whole in the ground. The other thing two remember is that we may never know who was in that building when the bombs hit. Bodies may be so fragmented that it may be very tough to find anything.

Our military has been amazing during this whole war. If they say they are confident, I'm inclined to believe them, body or no body!

In this day and age we only need a few cells for a DNA test. Now, we don't have any samples of Saddam's DNA, but we do know that he is Ali's cousin and that similarity should show up if we do find any of his DNA.

I think we'll know by what his people do and say next.

And let's not forget the military planners. We've got some incredible brain power and leadership and they've created the most flexible, fastest moving, best organized, MOST HUMANE military machine in the history of mankind!
