I know they have recently implemented the 'no blankets for holding parade spots' rule. Has this made viewing MSEP easier? I'll be there the beginning of May, and have been contemplating doing an AO package for the preferred section if there have still been issues getting a good spot.

They still allow blankets at the time they start allowing spots to be saved. That time is still several hours before the parade.

The issue I had with the AO MSEP package was you still have to get there at least an hour early. And if you want a good view from the railing you're basically stuck standing that whole time. I didn't find it to be a good value when we did it.

This is very helpful! Thanks for the feedback!

We got our spot near the fire house about 30 minutes before the official start of the parade and we were directly behind the front row. There were 4 of us.

Agree with the pp. We were able to get great spots for the second parade right when it started this past Saturday. There was a big opening in the second row, so we jumped in.

We got to the "overflow" AO viewing area about 25 minutes before the parade a month ago and, even though we were four or five rows back, we saw everything because everyone in front of us was sitting, too. We thought it was great. Our only issue with it was that, since you're all the way back by IASW, it's nearly impossible to get through the crowd afterward.

Makes me SO impatient for the railroad to open back up!

I'll definitely do the second parade and just skip the AO package. I don't mind lollygagging and waiting for crowds to disperse after the parade. Who wants to leave Disneyland? I'd sleep there if I could... :rotfl:
