MSEP was fun when it came back, for nostalgia purposes, but I think it's time to bring back Spectomagic.

Spectro for me. Was able to see the last one before they changed over the MSEP. Was hoping that MSEP wasn't a forever change. Sadly it was. I'd love to see something new as we'll watch MSEP but its not a must see for us like Spectro was.

Spectro. It was the first parade I saw in WDW 21 years ago and is very nostalgic for me.

SPECTROMAGIC!!!!! Still watch it ALL.THE.TIME ON YOUTUBE!!

Supposedly, the floats were ruined beyond repair by critters. I remember seeing the floats under a tarp years ago during the "Backstage Tour". At the time the Guide said it was returning and we were BESIDE ourselves!!! Then, sadly, months later it was revealed that it would never be coming back because of the damage.

Thought of something to add from our DL trip last month.

Many WDW people are irritated that their beloved Spectromagic was taken away and replaced by MSEP, while many DL people are irritated that their beloved MSEP was taken away and shipped to WDW. I was buying a set of Paint the Night pins at DLR and talking to the CM about how I was buying them because of how much I loved the parade and how fantastic it was, and she said "Do you really like it more than MSEP?" Being in the above WDW camp, I almost fell over laughing. I restrained myself and just said "Yes. Yes I do".

Another vote for Spectro!!! and as another previous poster said don't care if I see MSEP seen it an its just BLAH!! compared to Spectro

Spectromagic was much better,I used to make it a point to see it whenever I was in MK,MSEP,I don't care if I miss it!!The music and the way it played with the floats was much better than MSEP which just gets annoying after awhile.Music is a big thing with a lot of these parades and firework shows,it's a big reason why I love Illuminations and could watch it daily if I could.Has it really been 5 years since Spectromagic was retired?They said it was going on a hiatus with MSEP filling in so I thought,cool,it'll be cool to see a different one for a while.Right after I saw MSEP in 2010 ,which I did see as a kid,I already wanted Spectro to come back which it never did,I've been upset at Disney since.

I will admit that I can watch/listen to Illuminations all the time. I agree with you that the music is an important feature of any show. It can really help tie the whole show together or make it seem disjointed. I personally like the Holiday version of Illuminations. The ending with "Let There Peace" is great!

We saw this during our only trip (so far) to Disneyland and we really liked it so it was really cool when it suddenly popped up in WDW. I had no idea that Spectro was on the chopping block though. I never understood why they couldn't alternate them in some way. They should have repaired the damage and stored the floats properly. Is that going to happen to MSEP too?
