MS-waitlist---not happy-Happy Again!!!

I give up...this thread was not about the waitlist coming or not coming through. It was about how I was treated and talked to negatively about the DIS. Sorry for the rant and the thread. Excuse me:confused:

I can understand you think you were slighted by the CM. But we have only heard what you think you heard, one side of the story. We don't know what he thought he told you. He may have just thought he was trying to break the bad news to you. Your waitlist is a real long shot - probably slim to no chance at all.

I'm a realist and a downer for most people. They don't want the truth, but that's not who I am, maybe the MS Adviser is the same way.

Getting your waitlist filled is a numbers thing, you make a request and the software scans for an exact match. If your request is for a resort and room category that has a small inventory to begin with, your chances for success will be less. If you are requesting a resort that is real popular due to a event or time of year, your chances will be less. If you are requesting several days, mathematically, your chances will be less. Don't forget that matches are made first come first served. The earlier you make the request, the better your chances.

Good luck.

I'm like that to. Because I would rather set my hopes at "probably not" and then be delighted if it works out I'd rather get told "snowballs chance in hell, babe." I absolutely HATE it when I get someone overly optimistic about something, and then it doesn't work out. To me, the first CM would have been a much more likely source of a rant (not saying up front "I'm happy to set up that waitlist for you, but I don't think its very likely to come through") than the second.

(I'm currently waiting for something to clear at work. Wednesday last week. No, maybe by the end of the week. For sure early next week....and its FRIDAY a week and a half after it was supposed to be on my desk in a state I could move it through. Had I been told last Monday "I really hope this week, but I can't promise anything" and at the beginning of this week "things aren't looking good, negotiations are not progressing like we thought and this may take another month or longer" I wouldn't be ready to kill someone. It isn't something controllable - its contracts between two companies that are being negotiated through legal departments - but don't give me ONLY optimistic scenarios on situations you can't control.)

But the CM does need to be respectful and nice when he says "yes, your waitlist is here, but...I feel I should warn you...I don't think this is very likely to come through for you." i.e. no one should be told "snowballs hell in chance babe."

At least he didnt say your chances are "slim to none and Slim left town":goodvibes

And as far as the CM Dissing Disers, as helpful as the Dis can be, it is still unofficial and is not affiliated at all with Disney. Again no need for the CM's to be rude, but if you mention the DIS or other unofficial source, you will most likely get the rebuff from most CM's.

Their job is hard enough answering to Disney Policy, (or lack thereof) and now they have to answer to what the online discussion community thinks is correct or wrong. It can be frustrating.

You are frustrated with the direction this thread took and expressed it.:confused3 It's not your job to be magical 24/7 but maybe the CM momentarily lost their magic when you mentioned the DIS.

I agree with much of our dissers, with the short notice and the number of days you have two things working against you already...sry.....I do not mean to get you down or anything.

I would not plan or even anticipate that wait-list coming through for all ten days.

On a goos note though anything can happen, but it is much easier to change plans from a studio to a one bedroom that it would the other way around so just plan it the way you have it and hope for the wait-list

But my advice to you would be maybe segment your vacation to have some DDP days and some not... that way you can purchase some key grocery items that would be feasible to cook in your room with the Microwave, hot plate etc.... wishing you good luck.....

We also have decided the dining plan isn't for us. We have two DD's that are "adults", and they want to eat kid's meals. Have you thought about doing a split stay with as many nights together available in a 1 bedroom, and moving to a studio. During your studio time you could segment your reservation and just add the Dining plan for that part. We have decided to add the Deluxe Dining plan for just one night to cover some buffets and Fantasmic Dining Package for our trip in August. It works out cost wise in our favor, we also get mugs!

I totally understand your delima with the dinning plan. We have gotten it each and every trip but we wont anymore till maybe he is a teen and actually wants to eat. So the dinning plan is great but not for us at this age. We have actually tried to get in anywhere for a split stay but none of the resorts had any nights straight in a row maybe on or two here and there. But thanks for the reply. I hope you and your family have a great visit. We still has some time before our trip so maybe something will open up but not sure if not we will be ok.

Others have already suggested this, but I think your chances will go up significantly if you split it into two reservations of 5 days. Were days at the beginning or the end available right now or just the middle? Moving once if only one comes through wouldn't be that bad, and you could cook in the room when you have the 1BR and eat out when you're in the studio.
Right now, if 9 of your 10 days open up all those days would go to someone below you on the waitlist because yours will only come through if all 10 open up.

thank you every one for the kind and realistic words. I do not mind them at all. I was able to book 3 nights in the studio and AKV-our home resort and we r moving for the last seven to a 1bdrm at VWL. We are excited and nervous about staying there but at least our situation is resolved. we let go of the waitlist and hopefully opened up days for someone else to stay there if they needed.

So we were sprinkled with some pixie dust today and now I would like to know more about the resort as we have only eaten there for dinner. Hope everyone is doing ok and those waiting on the WL good luck:thumbsup2

So Glad to see everything worked out for you! Sorry, can't help you with VWL. Haven't stayed there yet but would like to sometime.

Enjoy your AKV and VWL stay!

thanks:thumbsup2 we are excited and feel better about having the one bedroom and excited to try a new place. My son is just so excited about star wars weekends and poor thing was tired of me talking about which resort to stay at. He said "It's Disney mom, we will have fun no matter where we stay". So lesson learned.

Hi The VWL has a VERY nice quick service area and I have enjoyed the food and selection at this location. There is also a large outdoor seating/eating area that you can take your food to and enjoy. The bar in the WL also used to serve appetizers, not sure if this is true anymore?? The WL is a nice resort with a very relaxing atmosphere and a wonderful pool area. I am sure you will enjoy your time there! Joan

Yay! Your DS has the right attitude. :thumbsup2

We LOVE WLV! :thumbsup2
Like a PP said, it's a very nice relaxing resort. Especially in the lobby of the villas building... sit by the rocking chair in front of the fireplace in the train room... sigh... heaven.

Roaring Fork is a great QS place and of course you have Whispering Canyon.

We miss our stay there it's been a long while for us... I'm sure you'll have loads of fun!

So glad you were able to get into a 1bedroom you will enjoy the kitchen. I actually like cooking on vacation. I plan well and have all the ingredients to cook our meals, so no stress. We get groceries from WEGOSHOP.com, and have great luck with them.
