MS confusion - UPDATE: clear communication via email - post #14

I agree until they have had time to sort through all the glitches I am not risking the hassle.

justwinnie, be sure to let member satisfaction team know about this.

I am SO THERE too Sammie. So there. :goodvibes. But it's a great change. I've only booked the DDP once since it came on board with DVC - over many trips. So they've grabbed me for the future. Not every trip but more often than I was before - for sure.

But not now especially after justwinnie's post.

Here it is Joan - the purple can be ignored - because it's about my specifics.

Part of the response from Member Services:

For reservation with an arrival date of January 1, 2011 and beyond, you will be able to keep both reservations linked together and only add the Disney Dining Plan for the first 5 nights. You would not have to check out and check back in and you will be able to remain in the same room for the entire time. We were originally told that this option would take place immediately but our IT Department realized that the resorts do not see the reservations this way until they are brought online to the new system.

So basicly what I gather from the different info both you and I got Disney's MS don't have a clear answer to give all members.

SEE I AM THINKING THE SAME THING. :thumbsup2

I didn't get an answer about losing the reservation while you were attempting to change the set up for partial DDP (but I'm going to ask again).
.

Just reread my reply from them. To be fair after reading it over they did say adding the DDP - I wouldn't lose my reservation - no chance. But I take that as an individual reply my already linked - separated reservation not a guarantee for one that has to be segmented. Who knows. :rolleyes1

Yep.

And that was the exact reason for this thread - frustration over ongoing conflicting information. But I don't know - I have more faith in the written word being that it can easily be used to counteract an alternate answer. Maybe I'm naive. Time will tell.

Hopefully for March Joan it will all be worked out.

That would be my choice edk35. :thumbsup2

I called yesterday to try and split my Dec trip up to do half DxDDP and half DDP. I was told they are no longer splitting reservations unless they have inventory available. Since there was NOTHING available for my dates anywhere she said I could try but the chance of me losing some or all of my nights was pretty good. So I said thanks and left it alone. She also said if I did do it I would also run the risk of having to move rooms during my stay. She said in 2011 that will not be the case but right now they can not guarantee we will stay in the same room.

I know others have said they were able to get it forced through but for me it was not worth the risk.

And the saga continues. :rotfl2:

Thanks so much Vicki. I'm with you - not worth it right now.

I just had another reply from them via email. And he told me mine would be fine - not possible to lose - b/c it's already technically split/two separate reservations linked (but of course check in and out b/c before 2011) and if it wasn't already split - a regular reservation - there would be only a "slight risk" to losing it but he has not heard of one reservation disappearing. He didn't mention they're no longer doing it without back up inventory. He did mention the manual breakdown. So I wonder if they are not doing it b/c it's so much work for them and are simply saying there's a "pretty good" chance you will lose it instead of stating that it's overwhelming for the staff. Hmmm.

Your response makes even more sense with some of the reports coming back.

At least we have their projection for 2011 in order. :lmao:

LOL of course I could have had someone who didn't want to do the work but she was very helpful with all my other stuff and seemed to know what I was talking about, unlike others who if I have confused them with very simple stuff LOL.

I will call again and ask because once I heard about splitting it made sense to do with the ADRs we made and the time of year we are going. I also have been trying to do a split stay since 7 months out so I keep calling for inventory and when I call again in a few days I will check again and let you know.

Hopefully someone will get the same answer twice LOL.

No I bet you got the correct answer - I'm leaning to they are actually now being told not to do it. But I bet the real reason is because it's overwhelming them with the manual changes. But who knows?

Certainly not us. :lmao: ;) ;)

Isn't it great when you get a CM like you got today - clear and right with you - that's always great.

Get this - I once had a MS CM tell me that no Value AKV suite faces any savanna even after I told her, "ummm I just returned from one - I didn't dream the animals". :rotfl2: And she wouldn't let up. Even when I stopped. Like it was personal. Like life and death for her. She went off the phone for about five minutes in the middle of my transacation - so I couldn't just get off and phone back -I might lose the value -didn't even tell me where she was going. Guess where? She phoned AKL's front desk and they concured. THEY CONCURED :lmao:. At their own resort. :rotfl: She was thrilled. No Value rooms face any savanna. Just thrilled that I was *wrong*. I said, "just let's finish my transaction so I have a one third chance to see my animals". Insert serenity prayer.

And get this - I got the Value Savanna view again. I should have invited her over from Tampa or wherever they are.

Good luck with it all Vicki and have a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes

This past summer we split a reservation to get DDP for 1 part and not the other. We were on vacation with others for the first part and they had the plan but it was too expensive for us to stay on it the whole time. You have to move rooms but they make it easy to do that so not a big deal.

For DVC reservations checking in 2011 you will no longer have to move with multiple DDP choices/segmented stay at the same resort. That's the whole point of the change that we're discussing. It's new. They thought they had it ready to go immediately (the absolutely not changing rooms part). It can be a big deal for some to move rooms if it's high occupancy.

They have been giving us a myriad of answers on this new change.

Now you've got me worried. We check in late this Wednesday for one night w/o DP followed by three nights with the DP.(Which I set up a few weeks ago). I guess i don't mind going back to "check out/in" the next morning but they better not make us change rooms!

No, no, no.....

No worries. :goodvibes

Listen, they are only saying "we can't guarantee" before 2011 because they don't want angry DVCers if they have to. IT WILL BE FINE. The resorts clearly know the issue - that the computers aren't registering the link of partial DDP until they switch over to the new system. And you'll just go down early - as you said -and 99.9%;) you will stay in the same room.

There's been stories of how the front desks are working very hard to keep DVCers in the same room on the new DDP switchover - with success - even in a situation where the names weren't matching because of an error by MS. You'll have no issue at all is my guess.

You're not going at an "at capacity" time for the entire resort I would guess??????. That makes a huge difference I'm thinking. With stress levels of moving designated rooms around.

It's great to hear you got your segments. Very happy. Have a wonderful vacation. And again I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. I'm in a BW view - which there are not a huge amount of - at capacity (meaning overworked front desk) - Christmas booking. That's why I'm not taking the chance.

HAVE FUN!!!:dance3:

LOL gotta love it. I know I had a conversation once with MS about switching resorts or something or other and I hung up the phone so confused. Came here and what I though was 100% correct and MS had me thinking I was nuts and that it would be impossible. Thankfully I just gave it a day and called back and sure enough it was a very simple switch.

I will have a wonderful vacation split DDP or not LOL. As long as we are in WDW everything will be good. Sounds like we may be there at the same time. I know we have a 2bd at OKW by HH. While it was not our first choice, it was actually #2, there is nothing anywhere for all our days and if I lose even one my DH may divorce me LOL.

You have a wonderful trip as well.
