MS Can do it!!

From perusing the couple of threads over the past few weeks about MS not utilizing banked points correctlly. I decided to check into my banked points. Well, I found a mistake. I am still in my June 07 UY and they borrowed points from 09 to pay for a vacation that is coming up in 08. Now here is the kicker. With the points that I banked into 08 and the points that I am getting in 08 and all of the vacations I have booked including the one in a month, I should have still had left 38 points in my 08 UY to use or bank. Somehow, MS left me with 60 points in 08 and borrowed 22 points from my 09 UY. Yikes! I thought they could not borrow that far in advance. I called MS the following morning and the CM that I spoke to was wonderful. She too was baffled about the borrowing from 09. Anyway she put me on hold and some reallocated the points back into my 09 UY and borrowed from my 08 UY for my upcoming trip! It was such a pleasant experience! (hoping that they will all be)

Did you change reservations, or have a waitlist come through? That may have triggered situation where they borrowed to make a new reservation before they canceled an existing reservation. It is sort of an automatic thing, and you were correct in contacting MS, as they will correct it with a manual adjustment.

Also if a reservation crosses a use year, it can, for some reason or another, trigger borrowing, and it has to be adjusted.

If your reservation is in your '08 UY then '09 points can be borrowed if needed(although in this case they shouldn't have been). Is your '08 vacation after June 1st?? Then it would be in '08 UY.

Just shows how much you have to stay on top of things! Glad to hear you had a pleasant experience with MS getting it corrected!
