If we decide to use points in MB as oppossed to HH what is there to do besides golf & shopping if the weather does not hold out for us? Ant thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Fight the crowds at a beach that has hotels 4 deep. Fight traffic around dinner time to try to drive to restaraunts, etc. Personally, I wouldn't give up HH points for MB.

there are several things to do - my brother's family really like it -

however I would wait until the Marriott (that is being built) gets opened.

some of the timeshares were hotels - so the rooms are smaller.

just ignore alot of the comments about DVC -

Myrtle Beach is a very active area--hence the comments about traffic. There are several evening shows--Dixie Stampede, Opry Land, Alabama, Legends, etc. The Ripleys aquarium at Broadway is very nice. Broadway at the beach has lots of shopping and restaurants, several movie theaters, an Imax theatre, a butterfly pavilon--and lots of people. There is also lots of mini-golf, a small zoo not too far (Socastee) I agree with the comments that most of the time shares on points are more like hotels--high rise, with small pools--most do have indoor pools if you have bad weather. I like Myrtle Beah, during the fall and winter months, but avoid it during the summer if possible--very crowded.

Hey spiceycat, could you give me more info on the Marriott you described? I haven't heard of any Marriott being built down there. My family and I love Myrtle but trying to get an II exchange seems to be difficult.

Will this Marriott be a time share or just a hotel?

Thanks for any info you can give!

Keep in mind that the options for Summer for MB will be almost non existent. but other times of the year should be pretty easy to get.

We went to MB a few years ago and stayed in the North Myrtle Beach area. It was not as congested as the "strip" area. We loved it there (not as much as VB though) DH and DS played on a challenging Par 3 course while the rest of us went mini golfing nearby. It was our first experience of staying in a condo right on the ocean. (very hotel like) If you go, try to go to Dixie Stampede. DH was selected to pitch toilet seats. :) He was mortified but the rest of us were howling! I haven't stayed at HH yet.......so I can't compare.

If you like golf, more golf, still more golf, strip clubs, drunken males filling the restaurants at night, traffic and tee shirt shops, Myrtle Beach is for you.

Decided that we are not going to use our points for this trip. My mom really wants to go so we are going to stay far away from MB more like the Garden City area. I get the feeling MB is like the diffrence between Atlantic City as opposed to Cape May in NJ.
