i would suggest going ahead with the mri. with neurological issues things can come and go as far as the physical signs/symptoms while the root cause remains. an mri may give you the answers you seek, or at least rule out certain issues so that other avenues of investigation and treatment can be pursued.
as for the actual mri-ds has adhd, and like many adhd kids can have very odd reactions to sedating drugs so when he needed an mri a few years ago we were very concerned. we had his done at a location that specialized in children, and had a pediatric anesthesiologist on staff. the process was so much easier than we imagined. the staff had it down to a science to minimize the stress and anxiety of both the kids and the parents.
another suggestion-i remember in your prior post you mentioned that there were questions among the doctors as to if your dd's condition could have psychological componants, if that is still be considered you might want to push getting a referral, in addition to the neuro one for a neuro psychiatrist.
this was one of the best decisions i ever made when i was having multiple doctors, with multiple specialties trying to figure out weather there was an organic or psychological factor with my health issues. i only had to do one appointment, but i made sure to provide (ahead of time) copies of all the tests my neurologist had run in addition to notes from my treating psychologist. having someone with expertese in both fields look at the data provided tremendous insight and information to my on-going treating physicians.
