We are scheduled to leave for Orlando tomorrow (friday) but got a call from my doctor that my MRI results were abnormal and they want to repeat them.

I am scared and worried like crazy. The doctor said it "was not a mass" but hasn't said what it is!

Would you cancel the trip, or go and get the testing done when you get home.

The MRI scheduler said they didn't request it STAT, so I am guessing it isn't imminently life threatening.

I just am lost as to what to do.

Does anyone have any insight or advice?

You must be so scared :grouphug: but if they didn't request it stat, can you get it done in Orlando?

This way you get to enjoy your vacation with your family without feeling like you are neglecting your health. By the time you get home, your doctor will have the results and you can hopefully stop worrying.

So sorry you have to deal with this right before your trip. Hoping it's just a bad reading and all is well : :goodvibes

At least they don't need it done immediately so that part is good. Try to think postive :sunny: . What kind of MRI? Just curious because I have to have a MRA of the brain after the holidays and am a bit freaked out too. Anyway if you leave on your trip would be able to go and have a good time? If so then I would go on the trip and worry about the mri when you get back. I don't know how I would feel doing it in Orlando and taking time away from my vacation unless it was urgent. Good luck and hope you have a wondrful trip. pixiedust:

Call your doctor tonight. Tell the answering service that it is urgent that you speak with him this evening. Tell him your situation, and let him reassure you that it's okay to go ahead and take the trip. Otherwise, you'll worry about it the entire time you're gone.

Doctors are used to getting worry calls at night. This is definitely important. Call him.

Have fun on your trip, and I hope your new MRI turns out alright.

very good advice.

I do think if it was anything big they would have said something and would have wanted it re-done faster. So, hopefully, you will get a lot of re-assurance from your doctor and can have a great trip.

I think this is excellent advice! Chances are that "abnormal" may mean simply an inadquate or flawed MRI as opposed to something "abnormal" being seen in the reading.

How long will you be gone and when were they going to schedual it for? With the holiday and people trying to get things in before the new year(deductibles) they may not be able to do it unitl after you return anyway.

Thank you all so much! I called my doctor...well DH did and got some much needed good news and reassurance. Apparently the MRI results they got so far show nothing, but there was one part of my brain/image that was "out of focus" so they have to redo it with contrast dye this time to make sure it is 100% okay not just the 75% reading they currently have.

I don't have to have it redone until we are home from our trip, and today he told DH for us to "have a very Merry Christmas".

Best Christmas present I could have gotten....

My daughter is beside herself that she can see Mary Poppins, oh and Gramma and Pap-pap too. :lmao:

Thank you guys again, I am so glad I had DH call him back. I swear he spoke and told DH completly different version than he told me. :confused3

Thank you again and Happy Holidays!
