we lined up early (9:30) and we were one of 16 (NOT 20) that got to name a toad (which = participate in the activity). This was the Sunday of a 7 day cruise....and many people were turned away.
My 4 year old had fun...but from a parental point of view it was a bit disappointing. the way it works is this:
There are 4 races...each with 4 participants. The winners of each of these 4 races then compete for the championship.
You can not choose who you race against. The first 4 to sign up are in race 1, the second 4 are in race 2, etc. On our cruise, there were little kids and big kids "competing" against each other. Specifically, my 4 year old was racing her frog against a group of 10-12 year old kids. Of course there was no chance that she was going to make it to the final round.
Our feeling after experiencing "Mr. Toads..." was that 2 things should truly be done differently. First, more kids should have the opportunity to participate in the activity (there were nearly 900 on our cruise). and second, these types of activities should be broken into age groups so that all can have the most fun possible.
Anyways, just my two cents on the topic....
