Mr. Potato Head

I've seen many references to Mr. Potato Head on these boards and was wondering if someone could please tell me what it's all about?

Mr. Potato Head is awesome! In DTD there is a store (sorry don't remember the name) that has bins full of parts. You can stuff as many parts into the box as you can for $18 (I think). It was a contest between my DS and DH against my DD and I to see how many parts you can get. Too fun! The trick is not to put the Potato Head in. You can get one for about $5 at Walmart. This was one of the best souvies we have. The kids have fun putting together different Disney outfits!

The store at DTD is Once Upon a Toy.. you can also make this at Toon Town Tent... they have pieces too!

Some of the parts you can get there are Disney-only, so it's pretty cool. We loaded up on everything from Goofy hats to Mickey ice cream bars for our Potato Head.

I packed our basic potato in our suitcase and DD then got to play with the pieces while we were there. I think she and our mousekeeper were having a contest on who could make the silliest face to leave for the other one - it was hilarious.

I made myself a shopping list of Mr. Potatoe Head "Disney" parts that we needed.

Go to laughingplacestore.com, choose the Toy category and add the parts that you need to the shopping cart. I printed my shopping cart list off of my printer and took a highlighter with us to DTD as we collected the parts we needed we figured out how to pack them in the box or in our case (2) boxes.
When I was unable to find the Tinkerbell wings a CM was more than helpful and went in the backroom and brought me one. The CM was very intrigued that I would bring a list with me. It worked out great!

Oh yeah, be sure an pick up the special boxed kit of Pirates of the Caribbean add ons. Was a nice little surprise for DD.

We actually had Mr. Potato Head at home, although I did like the idea of packing him and bringing him on the trip.

If you put the body in the box, there is no extra charge. I think the price per box is $18 + tax. Sbella

The other day while in my local thrift store, I found 2 Mr. Potato Head bodies and a bunch of non- Disney parts for .50 cents shoved into a box. I remember reading here to get the bodies a head of time so I bought the two bodies and they were just perfect. I will bring them in April and then we we buy the Disney body parts "Oh what fun we will have ."

Also, I read on another post, you must buy the Disney arms. The arms that come with a regular Mr. Potato Head do not hold Disney parts.

Tinkerbell wings?? Where!

We stopped at one of the stores just entrance side of the World Showcase and did the Potato Head pieces, my daughter had a CM helping her stuff that box and body full! I think we got a great deal, but now I'm hearing about all the other pieces the kids <and I> would have loved to have gotten!

Could you only get those at DTD?

I bought the boys Dark Tator and Spud Trooper from Amazon before we left for Disney last Nov. ( and 3 more for cousins) So on our trip I just got boxes of parts. 2 at Animal Kingdom and 3 more at DTD. All the cousins got a box of parts and my DS's got three. I kept finding different pieces. We have a Goofy Hat, Mickey Santa Ears, Donald beak, Tinkerbell and Little Mermaid hair.....I had a ball filling the boxes and filling the small spaces with things for the potato to hold...Mickey ballons, Mickey Ice cream.....

One of our Favorite part of our Christmas trip. You can find all the different parts at DTD. The stores in the park had a good selection but not as good as DTD. My hubby loved to pack the box. We purchased three boxes and got every part available plus losts of extra arms and small items to fill all the spaces in the box. Just parts in boxes no bodies. We brought thoses from home. Don't forget to get your rain Poncho (I think it was $2.00 or 2.50) This is probly our most cherished sovie. Can't wait for the grandbaby to get old enough to play and enjoy them.
