I hoping someone could help me with this...I want to get a box of Mr. Potato head at "Once Upon a Toy" at DTD, but I'm wondering how much it would cost? I want to be able to plan for how much it would cost to get this. Basically I want to get a box filled with all the special parts that you can only get through Disney. Sorry If this isn't the right place to post this! Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you buy just the parts and fill the box I think its around $17.

Souvenir Tips and Tricks

A popular souvenir is the all-you-can-fit-in-a-box Disney-themed Mr. Potato Head toy. For a flat rate of $19 you get as many parts as you can manage to fit into the provided box, as long as it closes and is not bulging. This toy is available at many locations at Walt Disney World, including Mouse Gears in Epcot, County Bounty in Mickey's Toon Town Fair at Magic Kingdom, some resort gift shops, and Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney.

Here are some hints for getting the most for your money when buying this toy:

If possible, buy one or more basic Mr. Potato Heads while you're still at home. You can get one cheaply from a discount store (or even a thrift store or yard sale, if you're really frugal). The head sold at Disney World is the same as the standard ones sold elsewhere, and it's the bulkiest part. Since will take up a lot of room in the box, skip it and load up on the Disney-exclusive parts! You may be able to make up multiple complete sets if you buy the heads separately.

If you do buy the head at Disney World, be sure to open up the back and fill it up with parts! This is allowed.

Be sure to get plenty of arms at Disney World. The arms are different from the standard arms that you can get elsewhere, and they allow you to attach special Disney items like Mickey ice cream bars, video camera with Mickey ears, balloons, suitcases and autograph books.

The display at some of the stores allows you make your own Mr. Potato Head postcards. You choose the parts on a screen and then print the postcard out to take home. There is trivia on the back of the cards, and if you fill it out and take it to a sales clerk, they'll give you a certificate and a small prize.

Do they let you buy a single "potato part"? I've always wanted a little set of mouse ears for my desk but I don't know what I'd do with $19 worth of 'tater!

You can't buy single parts. You've got to get a box-full. That being said - we have a BIG Rubbermaid tub full of tater parts! My youngest son LOVES these things - already has 2 or 3 new sets picked out for Christmas.

Maybe you could "stalk" someone about to buy a box-full and give them a dollar to throw you some ears in their box!

Try going onto EBay. I saw that you could buy single parts, you may be able to find what you are looking for and not have to worry about spending the $19.

I wish I could remember the CM's name, but there was a wonderful lady who worked at that DTD store this past May who helped my mom and me strategically cram as many potato parts into the box as possible. Like I think she may well have violated several laws of physics to get all of them in there, but by golly, the box closed! It might be worth it (if the store's not crazy-busy) to ask one of the CMs for help in getting the most bang for your buck, so to speak. :thumbsup2

If she was a slightly older lady, I think she might be the same CM who helped me last December. She was able to fit nearly three times the number of parts into the box than I was! :)

The same lady helped me this past October! :goodvibes She went around finding me small pieces that I could fill the empty spaces of my box and finding me pieces that I didn't have yet. She was great! Now MouseGear in Epcot, that was a totally different story! That old codger was hateful and made me put back I don't know how many pieces because the box didn't close to his liking!
