MR October 28, 2012 "Halloween Time"

I am excited to have another family join! I didn't get a pm, but you would want to pm Kidlette anyhow since its her post that has the running list. Here is the post

That is weird you didn't get my PM. I also emailed Kidlette early last week but no reply. I reposted our info here.

Anyway the pm said that we also live in the Sacramento Area. I look forward to a fun and exciting cruise.

We are thinking of doing the Pirate Ship and Snorkel Adventure. But its takes the whole day and we would not get to experience PV. But we have my mom and 2 kids to think about and not sure how much they would want to walk around. This excursion looks more for family's. Which is what this cruise is about for us.

We also thought of swimming with the dolphins but we can do that for so much less at Marine World (Six Flags).

What excursions have you done?

Thanks

Hi Donna. I'm sorry for the delay but I did get your email a week or two ago. Your info has been updated now! :woohoo: Thank you for your patience. :)

Everyone - please remember that I am only keeping the list because I am the first post and want to help out. Remember, we aren't even participating in the FE Exchange ourselves on this trip. Again, I have a 5 month old baby and my time is VERY limited, but I will update the info as soon as I am able. If I don't get back to you in a week then please do exactly what Donna did and post it here too, that way I'm sure to see it and remember it. Again, please just bear with me on any delays - I will get the info updated eventually. :)

Donna - on top of taking care of Lorelai, the reason I was running even more behind with your response is because we just bought our first house!! These last couple of weeks we've been finalizing the sale and then this past weekend we moved in! :woohoo: We're still trying to do the work, but slowly we'll get it all done. It's really hard though to get the house fixed up while taking care of a 5 month old! Anyway - here's a picture of our new house. This couldn't be a better year! It took us 8.5 years to get pregnant with Lorelai, and after more than 9 years married this is our first home. A baby and a home in only 5 months...CRAZY! :scared1:

I also have to ask - I notice you're in a suite. Would you be willing to open up your room for a small chunk of time one evening so us DISers who will never be able to afford a suite can see it?!? :confused3 A DISer did this on a cruise to nowhere and the 1st Mexico sailing that we were on, but we didn't get to see it because our Palo reservation was that night. Would LOVE to see what the suites are like, if you're willing! lol, no pressure though ;)

First and foremost CONGRATS on the new addition of the beautiful baby and on a beautiful house. Sounds like you have been busy. I appologize for the impatience. I think I am just a TAD tooooo excited about our first Disney Cruise. I understand that life is crazy. Trust me I know. I work 60+- hours a week. I take care of my house and family along with taking care of my mom and her house. She is legally blind and she is doing well with my help. I owe her my life since she raised me so well.

I will talk to my family and see if the would mind an open house. This will be our first suite. Our last cruise we had 2 staterooms with a veranda because we had 6 people. But since we only have five this time (lost my dad) we put our money together so we can be in the same room. My mom loves to cruise. This will be her first Disney Cruise. I honestly don't think she cares where we go as long as she can hang out and enjoy being out of her house. :flower3:

ah boo I didn't get the PM :confused3 Oh well glad you got through to kidlette

We live close by, cool!! We live in south sac :goodvibes

Honestly, we did the walk around PV thing...didn't do any excursions and this time I am def doing it different. I did NOT like walking around. There was a lot of construction the last time I went, so maybe that has changed, but it wasn't very interesting. We will be doing Las Calletas in PV because we've heard such awesome reviews about it and it is family friendly. Cabo I think is where we will venture and do our own thing and skip excursions. There are plenty of things to do there. You can make your own excursion. I heard you can even just get your own day passes for some of the resorts.

Would you like me to take over with FE? I know you are super busy and we all appreciate what you have done so far :goodvibes

No worries, please don't apologize. I wasn't trying to sound fussy, I just wanted to reiterate it for everyone because I had originally said it somewhere in the middle of our board and I don't know if people have been reading the whole thing or not. Thanks for the congrats - we're super excited about both events in our life! It's been a tough and crazy 9 years. The fact that it's all coming together at the same time is somewhat overwhelming, but it's also GREAT! :cheer2:

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Is she the grandmother that's joining you? If so, will she have a dog with her? On our last sailing we had 2 families with blind parents so there were 3 dogs in our group!! It was kind of cool. They let all of the kids meet and pet the dogs, and then we included the dogs on the FE exchange, it was great! Well, the people turned out to be crabby people you didn't want to be around so we didn't talk to them after the meet and greet, but still, it was nice. :)

No worries on the suite - I just thought I'd ask. I haven't looked up your room number on the map so I'm not sure what type of suite you have. Is it the Walt Disney suite, or a smaller suite? :confused3 Just curious :upsidedow

Congrats on your new home!!! :cool1:

Thanks!

You are more than welcome to do any planning and arrangements for the board and the FE, but I have to keep the list going because it's under my post. You can't edit my post without logging into my account. You'll see that I gave a cut-off date and stuff, but that's all I did. You can still arrange a meet and greet on the ship, a way for people to find out any changes in cabin numbers for those who are "courtesy upgraded" at the pier or newly assigned TBA's at the pier, etc. We have no "logo", no cruise group name, no bracelets, and no meetings set up, and those have been typical in past boards we've done. Honestly though - I don't know if it's worth it for this group. This is probably the least active group we've ever been involved with. There are only 9 cabins participating in the FE (my last sailing there was about 40) and there definitely aren't enough cabins and people to justify buying bracelets. A logo and group name would still be good for those wanting to utilize those for personalized FE gifts, but again, I don't want to be the one to arrange it. If you'd like to take over arranging those things, that would be great! :cheer2: LOL, scary prospect, huh? :rotfl: Again, I don't mean to be a buzz kill, I'm really a great and happy person. For this particular sailing though I don't really want to use as much energy "preparing" as I have in the past. For that reason we aren't really invested in what the group activities are. Like I said, this group hasn't been very active anyway. :(

With that said - ONLY 4 MONTHS TO GO!! :cheer2:

Ok this should help. I just copied and pasted your original post, so that I can edit my new post. Feel free to delete your post. I totally understand you have a lot of stuff on your plate :thumbsup2

To everyone: I have NEVER organized this, but I will try my best!!:wave2: We did the FE last cruise and it was a pretty low key, one original meet when we got on board. We didn't have a name or a logo. I don't mind creating a name and logo. I was thinking "This is Halloween" from Nightmare before Christmas. Thoughts? Ideas?

Please feel free to throw ideas out there! This is only my second cruise ;)

sica1799, please don't take this the wrong way - but re-posting the FE info list is probably going to be confusing for everyone. If you update it here then people won't know which page it's on, etc. Since my post is on page 1 it makes it easy for them to find. As I said, I don't mind continuing to keep the FE list going. If you're ok with it, please edit the post and delete it so we don't all get confused. :thumbsup2 If not, that's alright, I just don't want to confuse people.
Thanks :)

We didn't have a name or a logo. I don't mind creating a name and logo. I was thinking "This is Halloween" from Nightmare before Christmas. Thoughts? Ideas?

In the past people have liked the destination and year in the name/logo so that they can use it as a souvenir of sorts. For instance, if they're making magnets for their FE gifts then they like for it to reference when and where they traveled. With that in mind, if you want to go with "This is Halloween" then maybe extend that to be "This is Halloween in the Mexican Riviera 2012"...or something. Then, your logo can be Jack Skellington (or whomever) but he can be wearing a sombrero instead of a santa hat (in order to reference it back to our destination being Mexico). I would personally probably take out the "this is" and say something like "Nightmare in the Mexican Riviera", "A Halloween Nightmare in the Mexican Riviera" or "Halloweentown does the Mexican Riviera"...something like that. I like the idea of Jack in a sombrero, I think that would be funny. :rotfl:

Anyway, just my 2 cents :thumbsup2

I liked your ideas Kidlette! I came up with a draft, let me know what you guys think. I couldn't find a good way to put a sombrero on his head, it wasn't working for me. He's got an odd forehead LOL :rotfl:

Wow that logo is awesome. Great job. I am so excited. I am almost done with the fish extender.

Also, I talked to my mom and she was not so comfortable in an open house. But I look forward to meeting everyone.

TY!! you will just have to take pics :)

Yes she is the grandma going. She does not have a dog at the moment. I have been trying to talk her into it but she said no. But she is very excited to go and we can't wait to discover the disney wonder cruise.

Lets put some positive engery out there to all cruisers that we can get more than 9 cabins. We still have like you said 4 months to go!!!!! I hope we can make this groups awesome. We already have a great LOGO. I am thankful that we have a go getter in this group that made the awesome logo and wants to take the lead. I can feel it deep down that this is going to be a wonderful vacation that we will NEVER forget.

Thanks All

Great Logo! We did Halloween in 2008 on the Magic. It was SO much fun (the trick or treating was really cute).

And we'll be on the ship for Dia De Los Muertos, too.:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

This will be our 3rd MR cruise. Our first cruise was Oct 2011 and we loved it so much, we went again Feb 2012.
We’ve only done the PV City Tour excursion in the past but haven’t decided which excursions to do this time.
We’re so excited to be going again.

We also wanted to join the FE group.
I’ll send Kidlette an email.

This is us:
Mimismommy
Cabin # 2085
