We started today opening Animal Kingdom. I’ve said this in other reports but I will repeat it. If you have young children go to Chester and Hesters Dinoland as early as you can. My kids love those carnival games. You only need 2 people to play. Cost is $2.00 a person and someone always wins. So for for $4.00 you can get a cute stuffed animal.

We usually eat at Donald’s Breakfast which is a stones throw from the restaurant, to get there early. Today we got there by 9:10 or so and still there was no one around. In fact we must have been the first family to walk into the carnival game area. As soon as we did a cast member came up to us and asked if we’d play a game at no charge and we’d win a price and get a magical moment certificate.
We played fossil fuel; the game where you shoot water into the center of the target and it rises to the top. Grandma, mrs.mike and I let the kids lead the way and my son won. They gave a nice large size prize and the certificate saying we had a magical moment. It was signed by all the cast members in the area. I will post a pic of it when I get home to my DSL.

We played all the carnival games. At the basketball hoops game my poor son could hardly throw it over the line to the hoop. My daughter got closer but no basket. We tried it twice and didnt get any in. As we were about to leave the CM there gave each of my children a snake. It was much appreciated; we didnt expect anything. We also played a game where you throw a whiffle ball into an area filled with holes. The colored holes win you a price. Both my son and I won on this game. Also played the one where you smack the dinoheads with a hammer. The first to smack 15 wins. Needless to say we have 2 bags of stuffed animals. Oh yeah, we tried one game a third time and the CM said if we gave back 2 small ones he’d give us a large one. He gave us a huge red alligator. It was taller than my son!

Walked around dinoland before leaving taking pics of grandma near some old cars they have parked there. I’m sure it brought back some memories of her drive-in date days.

We were hungry by now and when back to the Tree of Live and had bagles and coffee and sat for a short while. We were planning on leaving quickly to get other things done but we let the wind lead us and we walked all around the tree of live, watching and taking pictures of birds, turtles, otters, kangeroos and other cute and not so cute animals. Also walked through the Pangani forest trail. Which was crowded actually. After a quick stop in Pizzafari we left and walking to the car watched my son run and fall and scrape his kneed pretty bad. So bad in in fact it is still oozing as I type. Today was a bad day for little kids and getting hurt.

We drove over to the marketplace at Downtown Disney and I headed to guest services to get a new Annual Passholder holder. The holder I got in July was already in pieces. As AP holders know you need to keep the passes somewhere safe as they are made of paper. I don’t know why tickets for the Halloween party I nice plastic and the APs are paper.
AS I walked in a little boy was screaming and his face was all bloody. I guess he fell on it. He had blood on his nose, mouth and eyes. My heart broke for him. His parents were very calm unlike the next couple I saw whose baby fell either to the padded ground of the lego store or was caught as he was falling and hit the stroller. Either way he was screaming and the parents were arguing over who was to blame,

Our first store was World of Disney with its infinate sections. We started in one section and went throught them all. I had to make 2 trips to the car while shopping. Spent way too much that I don’t have. But at least I have my Mickey iced tea and hot chocolate. Yummmmmyyyyy!

Also shopped in Team Mickey ( which doesnt take the Disney Club card for any discounts) and Once upon a toy. Way too easy to spend a fortune. We agreed to wrap anything we bought for ourselves for Christmas.

I love the cast members here. Have always had friendly and genuine people helping me.
I noticed across the water the new vacation club, Sarasota Springs. I had no idea it was being built with a view of Downtown Disney.

When we were almost done we received a call from my sister. She had a stomach virus and was up all night and was too sick to see the Luau show at the Poly. And the wishes were already subtracted from her plan so my mom went instead. While she was there we decided to go to the contrmporary’s game room.
At the monorail we asked to ride up front but I saw people in the front as it pulled up. When the doors opned the CM told ud we were set to ride. We looked confused and he explained that the pink monorail was the Poly’s color so if a poly guest wanted to ride whoever was in it had to get out. I felt bad about kicking them out but...

The kids rode once beforfe but not me. What a view, I took some great picturs. The CM driving the monorail gave my children the co-pilots liscense. It was a nice touch.

At the contemp we played more games and then had dinner at the food court. Got some fun prizes with the 611 points we won and then back to the Poly to watch the fireworks fromthe beach. Had a great view in front of hawaii. This was the best fireworks yet. They looked better. My daughter said she saw mickey’s face in the fireworks. I had heard there was faces but didnt know for sure. A few minutes later I swear I saw Simba’s face. I wish I had more nights to see it but tomorrow is another Halloween party and we will actually be at Epcot during the fireworks time.

Back in the room for only a few minutes when we hear this LOUD music. I have no idea what it is so I stick mt head outside the redrum’s sliding door and I see the electric water parade. We all ram down to beach and watched it. I had never seen it before and can’t believe the very loud music never caught our attetnion before. Towards the end they have the flag and patriotic music.
At one point they were playing Yankee Doodle Dandy and my daughter started singing the words to barney, the dinosaur. I laughed so much!!

Back in redrum we told grandma we were going out shopping and left her alone with them. We prayed she’d survive.
We went back to the contemp to shop. I wanted to get a drink at the Outer Rim but we didnt have much time as the monorail closed at 11pm. Actually 3 different people had hoped to get a bus at the TT& A but were told none was running. They were told they had to go down to first floor and wait for a bus to downtown disney. Then get a bus to their resort from Downtown Disney. One family was fine, another was too, but the third was angry and you could see it. I felt bad for them.
We walked back into the room and saw Grandma fast asleep with the kids. Watched the Yanks lose and now I need to hit the bed.

Tomorrow is another busy day and our last day, too We will probably leave early Saturday.

Thanks for all the kind words and the support. Mike

Another great report, glad to know Jack (I'm BAAAAAAACK) hasn't been seen. I guess we will try some of the carnival games on our next visit, I now feel bad that we didn't let our youngest try them the last time. She really wanted to but we kind of talked her out of it, saying "No one ever wins those things!". I hope you enjoy your last day!

Thanks again for posting!! Great tip about the games in Chester & Hester's. :bounce:

I've never heard the tip about Chester & Hester's. Great idea, thanks! Great reports, enjoyed reading them.

Hi Mike, I've been enjoying reading your reports. We were at the Poly the same time as you. Probably saw you at the pool and didn't know it. My family also got the stomach virus that was going around the Poly. My DS (3 1/2) emptied his guts at the Japan pavilion and then DH and DD (6) got it the last night we were there (Friday). Sorry to hear about your problems with the Samoa room. That's the building we requested but we got Tokelau instead. It was a nice location too. Take care.

Thanks for all the great trip reports live and in person so to speak. I really enjoyed them! :love1:

Smoochies, :love2:
