MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

Thank you so much for your response. I was afraid to hear that the open houses are still large time blocks. Did you notice if the open house room was busy or not, past the first day?

There were a lot of people in for the open houses. Mostly people that had a child that was in the 2-3 year old range. But a lot of the adults were wanting to do the activities as well. Making flubber and such.

Thanks again:goodvibes Sorry guys, did not want to hijack your thread. Appreciate the help from the previous cruisers. :hippie:

Anyone else still rocking when you close your eyes? What a weird sensation!

I only met a few of you as we left the FE meeting to go check our kids into the kid clubs. But I saw most of you around the ship.

Hope everyone had fun!

And i was the guy with the goatee)

We ALL had a "Wonder"ful cruise.

It was great seeing the Abbotts and Grandpa throughout the ship. And waving to all the other disers on the cruise.

We won one trophy and medallions for all including Duffy. We were "Duffy's Dude & Dudettes" for one of the contests.

We made sure we did things on the cruise that we hadn't done before.

Diversions was our "go to place". CM Gilbert played "monster" janga with our girls and we all had fun watching the HUGE blocks fall with the smaller janga blocks on the top.:cool1:

The duo NOT TO MISS was MIDTOWN in the promenade lounge. We danced with them almost every night. The girls loved dancing with their daddy. I loved watching it all.

I hope your cruise was just as "Wonder"ful as ours.

LOVE my first Disney cruise! Start doing my research for my next Disney cruise right after i got home yesterday! =D

My server Tobias and Arjay was wonderful, they made every meal so great. Could never have enough Mickey bars...yummy!

Just one thing i felt so disappointed was that i lost my voice right on the first day of the cruise. But i still had a great time on the ship. LOVE it!

Thank you ALL for a wonderful, WONDERful cruise! And for those who included us in the extended FE group, a huge thanks to you! ...especially the person who dropped off the First Aid kit... Good thinking!!! Sorry that we didn't reciprocate, but with pulling together a work "president's club" trip for my employees, I had my eyes on making sure my guests had a good time. And of course they did! But a huge thanks to everyone who dropped goodies in our nautical flags FE (you know who you are... Big pat on the back!)

We had awesome weather! Tons of whales (we actually tired of seeing so many whales on our non-Disney excursion in PV that we hopped in the water and swam with dolphins) and whale sightings from the ship. A comedian for a cruise director (did you watch the debarkation video). Awesome hypnotism "volunteers". "Secret" buffet on debarkation in BBB with nobody there. A great skit from the cruise staff -- "SNIP!". 55,000 eggs later. More Krispy Kreme donuts than I'll ever eat again. A few accidents in the Mickey Pool including one barf on the Mickey Slide... Oops! Round after round of Flubber. DS5 actually dancing at the pirate party. Sailing with my DVC guide and TONS of DVC swag. Winning Bingo ($68!). A surprise pirate night magnet "FE" gift and glow sticks! Tom Cruise's boat anchored in Cabo (rumor had it). Todd from Utah playing along with the ventriloquist at adult night and the crazy kid at his 8:30 show (that kid was hilarious). And calm seas!

So happy that we've started our Aulani countdown. Less than 265 days to go...

Back to the real world! The highlights for us, traveling alone as a couple without kids (!!):

  • We chose to upgrade at the port - we ended up just 2 cabins down the hall from disnanny (and enjoyed meeting Bill and Janis - as well as Frank and his wife who occupied the cabin between ours). We had nice chats across the verandahs and around the ship.
  • Adult shows at night - entertaining and not crowded at all. Years ago on the Magic you couldn't find a seat at the adult shows - on this cruise they were lightly attended.
  • Martini tasting with CM Gilbert in Diversions - more fun and interesting that we expected!
  • Outdoor Adventure experience with Vallarta Adventures - worth every penny. We had to book with Disney as there were no times available to book directly.
  • Whale watching in Cabo
  • Coffee and tea on the verandah in the morning; gin and tonics in the afternoon. And a stateroom host who kept the ice bucket filled for us, along with a couple old-fashioned glasses for the cocktails.
  • Palo dinner
  • Excellent servers in the dining room (although we though the food in all the dining rooms in general was rather unremarkable - rarely an herb or seasoning in site).
Overall a great week and much needed relaxing vacation!

We LOVED seeing your family, too! AND you and Duffy were big stars at the Golden Micky's :)
Grandpa loved that so many people recognized him and said "hi", he is ALL-IN for FE's next go around, and he can't wait to start making them:lmao:. I think he will join the DIS now too.

We rebooked for an 8 night out of Galveston. DH loved the trip so much he made sure we booked onboard:cool1: We like getting out of town in the dead of winter, so our next trip is Feb 1, 2013- less than a year :)! I got mildly sea sick the first night, then just had a "sea-sensation" the rest of the time, until the last night, when it returned to sea-sick. We want to do a longer cruise, but I'm a little nervous about the motion sickness, so we decided to just add one day and see how it goes. I was surprised that Mackenzie didn't really like the clubs as much as we had hoped. The first day ruined it I think. She enjoyed the Club, but not the Lab, and when secured ended for the club they sent her over to the lab. She was not amused. After that she only went to the club when there was something she really wanted to, Do-Si-Do with Snow Whit, and her favorite, the Royal Ball. She spent most of the time in the pool, which was fine by me, I just wanted to sun bath anyway. She isn't a napper anymore, she is almost 8, but we found that having lunch, then going to the room to "rest" every afternoon made her a happier girl at night. She slept every afternoon for about an hour, and most times I did too! She was in bed by 10pm everynight, which made it hard for DH and I to do adult night activities, so we both usually went to bed by 10 also. We're early risers anyway, so it worked out. Elijah is 11 (12 on Friday) and he loved the Edge. The only time I ever saw him was at breakfast and dinner. As for the teens, I was worried they wouldn't enjoy thier club, but the twins (14.5) loved it so much!!!! Caelan who is 1 month from being 17, liked it, but he liked just sun bathing too. He did join in on many of the Vibe things. His complaint was that at his age, he was too old to be swimming in the "kid soup" pool, but not old enough for the adult pool. I completly understand his problem. One afternoon a CM told him to go swim in the adult pool, and he was in heaven! I know this is not the norm, but he was very happy. We are usually pretty strict with curfew, but we let the older kids have some freedom, and they would come in about 1am every night...sometimes they even took their little brother with them, and I love when they do that. I think my kids bonded with each other more on this trip than any other family vacation. We asked the them the last day if they wanted to go to WDW or cruise next year and they all want to cruise again, so I guess it was a success!

We are ll missing the Wonder already! We had such a great trip and wonderful service. We requested the same server as last year, Danish and love him! He had a new assistance this year as Dani was promoted to a server a few months ago! It was so great being at the first meet and being able to get to know some of the FE pep's durring the trip! This time we got to play more triva and enjoy more of the things on the ship and really felt like there just wasn't enough time to do it all a second time that maybe, a third trip is in order! I hope that everyone made it home safe and for those that were at the Double Tree the night before we sailed, I hope that they were able to do something for you as the power outage was an internal issue, not and issue with DWP as they were telling guests that were checking in. We were not to happy with the Double Tree, but the cruise was WONDER-ful!

we also stayed at the Doubletree Inn, They credited our charges for the night (we had signed up for an upgrade $15.00) Although the staff was terrific I am not sure if we would stay there again, unless they upgrade the hotel. We were quite disappointed with the decor but the staff was wonderful.

We had a great time on the cruise, thank you to everyone for the wonderful FE gifts.

Hi, it was great to meet you and Lloyd and chat over the veranda. Frank, Jenn and their little guy were so nice. We had such a good cruise.

Palo was amazing, we went to all three, have been afraid to step on the scales, hopefully will lose some of this in Hawaii before we head home.

Rolando kept us with wine glasses and he had such a great sense of humour. Disney really does have outstanding staff.

The servers were the best, Aaron and DeDe we fell in love with them and hated to leave...we miss them so much

She didn't eat her fresh fruit as she usually did. She was super quiet on the flight home. Spent ALL DAY Monday sick as a puppy. : fever, stomach issues and just yucky feeling.

Called DCL phone number. Was told to write an email which I did on Monday. Got a call back today. Our dd is still not at 100% spent most of today sleeping.

Our cruise was "Wonder"ful other than her getting sick on the last day. :thumbsup2

We are not home yet, one more day in Disneyland before we head back to reality. I had so much fun last week, I cried when we left!
Some highlights:
- seeing our old Palo server Vladimir (now a new-hire training Officer) every day. He is such a sweetheart, and now a geat friend. Folks around us in the dining rooms started asking us why we had such friendly visits from an officer each night! They thought we were VIP's. Hahahahaha.
-our servers Tumi and Yusef. WOW.
- I only ate from the dining room menu one night. Our head server was Marco, who is actually the Palo manager. We talked the first evening and he decided he would have the kitchen prepare me his own Italian recipes. OMG...
-the cabaret acts were a lot of fun and Daniel is great doing trivia. We had many nice afternoon drinks with him!
-Palo was of course amazing. Selcuk was entertaining and spoiled our kids rotten by sending us with a huge tray of desserts on brunch day. We saw him working at BBB the day before our dinner and he whispered in my kids ears that he would send Souffle for them after our dinner...he did and they were of course in heaven.
-we won the Mickey 200 veggie car race (yay Frosty the GO-Man!)

Some things I'd like to forget
- clothes getting ruined by my mouthwash. Rayon dresses+listerine= no clothes for Roxanne. Smelled like a drunk tank!!
- getting stoned on sea sickness meds on Las Caletas day. Zzzzzzz. Slept at Las Caletas, 1/2 the afternoon and frm 8:00pm to 6:00 am.
-getting soooo sunburned I'm still burned!
-not rebooking on board. This will be our last DCL cruise for a long while. Boo.

My kids thoroughly enjoyed FE's- thank you everyone for your generosity.

I'm going to do a trip report so I can include everything and everyone that was so awesome about our trip..

.

I think we probably had the same head server. Marco was great! He had some of his dishes made for us also. A couple of pasta dishes and Chicken Parm. It was to bad that he didn`t inform us that he was doing it THAT night because we ordered our dinner and got it and then received his special dishes. I didn`t even have any room let to try them. Sadly half was wasted because they sent us so much.

But he was really really great and I was super happy he was able to put us on late breakfast the last day.

Hi everyone! We had a great time too! The kids loved the kids club and we all enjoyed the trip so much that we booked again for Feb 2013 on Fantasy...can't wait to do it again. We really enjoyed the FE's both giving and receiving...and decorating our door (think we went a little overboard on our door) but did enjoy the comments (except the fight over the people writing Go Blue on the door-lol)

Disnanny- you sat by my boyfriend and his kids for dinner...how funny!!

Was that really Tom Cruise's boat with the helicopter...took many pics and looked through binoculars, but didn't recoginze anyone-lol...that's cool if it was!

We were told the boat belonged to a guy named Dennis Washington, something to do with oil- and he has 5 of them. He rents them out

Regarding Attasse (the massive boat in Cabo with the Helicopter pad on it.) Some friends of ours on the cruise were told that it was Tiger Woods by one of the water taxi guys. I have a really good camera and was able to pull the name off of it and look it up. It comes up as belonging to Dennis Washington. Guess he's from BC.

Who ever was on it had one sweet ride!

We were looking at that yacht!

I'm going to do a trip report soon. I just need to figure out how to post pictures!

Also, to my fellow cabin neighbor.....this was my mom's first cruise. The first morning at sea..I could have killed her! She went onto the balcony - I'm thinking it was before 7 AM! And started talking to the kids next to our balcony! LOUD~! "Did you go to the club?" :headache: She freakin woke me up....I got up and shut the sliding door, then I thought of my neighbors and got up and brought her in.... so sorry! I politely just said don't do that again...I like my sleep! LOL

We really did have the most adorable family next to us. I could hear one of the little kids say "hello? hello? are you there?" I wouldn't tell my mom so she wouldn't wake up the 3 decks and 12 staterooms surrounding us :thumbsup2

Thankfully, I saw you were in suite and we were next to your "family room" :sad2:

Did anyone go to the hypnotis (sp?) show in Wavebands? My tablemate was picked. It was so funny! She was one of the ones that went "under" while sitting in the audience. ;)

I have to tell you all, Dakota shared some of his FE gifts at school for show and tell! :grouphug: I, myself, want to put each and every one of them in a keep sake glass cabinet on display forever! Like my Oscar, my Emmy, my Golden Globe or my MTV Spaceman!

I'm working on my DH to go on an Alaskan cruise. The moment I said that, my DS18 yelled "No, that's my college fund". Details, smeashtails. Such a debbie downer. College. I always forget. All you ones with small ones, enjoy. He's my second going off next year so I guess I'm going to look for more KIDS SAIL FREE deals in the future! :)

I have one in college, and Caelan will be leaving us next year. We do BIG trips the years the kids are graduating, and little ones in between. We wouldn't have done this cruise this year, except for the Kids Sale Free was just too good to miss.

We sat beside him and his daughters. They are such great young ladies, he should be so proud of them. He gave us his business card and I will drop him a line when we get home.

Compared to the cruise Aulani is so so so quiet. lol. The resort is very beautiful.
