MR cruise - Jan 22/12

We should name our cruise! Seems like most do. It would be great to get one of the DISigners to make something customized we could make magnets with.

On that note, anyone else making magnets? I've had a few designed, just have to print and laminate.

I like the idea of the Jan 1 deadline, so we know exactly how many to have ready. I will hit the after Christmas sales also! As for a name, would something with Winter and Wonder work? I was thinking of ideas for door decorations and was thinking of something along those lines.

I like that--something like Winter Wonderland on the DCL or something. Chime in with ideas!

I had Jordak do a design for us, and I need to print out and laminate. I wasn't going to go too crazy on the door decorations--maybe one family one and then a name plate for each. I hate asking Jordak for more designs--he asked people to keep requests to a minimum--I might try to print out a special Mickey head for each and put names on top, then laminate. If that looks cheezy I may go beg Jordak.

How about "Wonder-ful Winter Escape"? I woke up this morning to find the pond in our backyard has frozen over and it is snowing! Not ready for this...we will definitely need the escape!

Yes! I like it. Our weather in San Diego is pretty close to what it will be on the cruise, but we still need the escape.

I like the Wonder-ful Winter Escape! We will definitely be escaping from here! I always have kind of a let down after the Holidays, and the Winter seems to drag on, so having a Beach will be a dream come true!

I love the name! Actually I love both suggestions! I am interested in FE too. I think my sons would love to go around and deliver the treats. I also am worried about bringing many gifts though since we have to go through international customs, etc. I will wait and see how many rooms sign up. Maybe I could do one gift per room/ family, but I don't think I could bring in one per person....

Hey y'all, a couple of questions:

1. How do you feel about posting your stateroom # in a private message to the group. Is that too paranoid?

I also have never liked putting too much info on the internet. I also do not feel comfortable posting our stateroom. (I don't know why...)

For the same reasons, I never use my children's name or photos. Just paranoia, I guess. Remember in the 70's when air brushed T shirts with your name on them were so popular? My mom never let me wear a shirt with my name on it. She said a kidnapper could pretend he knew me that way. I guess she passed it down

I think I'm going to do a family gift--or at least a bag with goodies for everyone. Not sure. I've been spending waaay too much time on etsy and the FE gift thread! My daughter agreed to help me with a little sewing project for the ladies in the exchange, so I at least have one idea set.

And I agree with the person who suggested that we split the group if it gets too big. You have a lot more to think about as far as bring the gifts through customs--I only have to load them in a bag and stick them in my car to drive to the port! But I think it doesn't have to be a huge gianormous gift--I've seen a lot of little items that can pack well. Since you live in China, anything cool from that country would be so novel! I can't think of anything good from San Diego so I'm going to stick with Disney stuff.

RE: Room numbers--after January 1st maybe we can send around a PM with the stateroom numbers on it. I know it's not a big deal, but it's weird to me that a million people could be lurking on this thread knowing where our stateroom is. Not sure why they would care, but there you go!

I think we may only be doing family gifts as well, it is just too much to distribute by person.

Yes, I'm on facebook--I'll send you my name and you can add me if you want! If we all join that would be a great way to keep track of FE stuff, etc. by making a private page.

I have been looking on all the threads for FE gifts as well. When I first started hearing about them, I thought "Those people are crazy!" Now I have all these ideas bouncing around, and my husband thinks I am the crazy one! Still deciding what can be packed into a suitcase from KS!

I tried to add a ticker, but obviously it did not work.

I would also feel more comfortable sharing the kids ages, names, staterooms, etc in a more private way. Either email list or private group somewhere is ok. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to head that up right now, as we are moving house soon. If someone does, send me the link PM or something. Thanks, J

I would be happy to start an email list, if Facebook does not work for everyone. Either way is fine for me.

If you are interested in an email containing FE info including stateroom #, family info, etc.--just Private Message me with your info and I'll start compiling a list.
