MR BACK's Back!

I don't know I'm torturing myself by reading the latest postings on the resteraunt boards and watching the food network. I'm trying to cut down on our weekly treats so that we can indulge in October with the adult beverages and food sampling. Our meal planning is messed up by the delay in the house repair (hoping for tomorrow). I would have made a roasted turkey, steamed veggies, and some biscuits (okay---I cheat--use frozen or canned biscuits). I was then going to have yummy turkey sandwiches or turkey quesadillas the following day. Then if there was enough turkey----turkey/noodle/veggie soup.

I am bit :bored: . One more hour until NC Beast wakes up and we can have burgers or hot dogs. No imagnation there today with us keeping the fridge almost bare on purpose (its going to be unplugged during the floor and door repairs in the kitchen).

Morning all. Been busy getting Sam ready for college. I am dreading next Wednesday.

Cute pictures of Catrina. I can't believe how big she is getting.

I haven't had time to go back and read the posts. Hope all is well for everyone

BELLE, are you vacationing on Lake Lure? It sure is pretty.

Lauren loves school. We both love her teacher. It will be a good year. Hopefully my son will warm up to his new school

Off to get ready for school. Be good all

Goodmorning everyone!

No CMom - Lake Lure is my future home - well maybe - if I win the HGTV Dream Home. I was thinking though that it would be OK if NCBelle or Cadsmom won because of course they will invite us all to come down for a huge house party! Right? Right!!???? I had an aunt in Maggie Valley, NC and I only visited her once - she now is back in MI. I wish we had gone to see them more often. It looks completely gorgeous.

My favorite was in Georgia. But they get better and better every year.

Ed's s secret fan too! :cool1:

I can't see photos but can you serve as a tutor for me. I am looking into getting photo shop for scrap booking puposes and I am soo nervous. How are you finding it as far as ease of use?

I wish I could tell you that your photo is awesome - but alas, the evil MAN has stopped me again from having fun at work.

OH....anyone got a beta :fish: ? The school gave the kids one (each), and I want to make sure we don't kill them! :p SO, if you do have one, how often do I need to clean the bowl? Anything special I need to know? (And before anyone says it, YES, they are in separate bowls.)
:teeth: Trust me, betas are easier to care for than goldfish. Jordan's preschool did the same thing and he had one that lived 4 years...if we can keep one alive that long, anyone can ::yes:: Just change the water once a week(if even that) and drop in a few grains of fish food every other day. The fish food label will tell you to feed them WAY more than they actually need and all the extra food will make the fish bowl cloudy :fish: Probably TMI I know, but we love betas :goodvibes

Did you hear about the new cruise(s) they announced on Friday????? A 10 day and 11 day southern Caribbean in Sept '06????? I let PixieMagic know right away, as the 10 day is over her birthday (though I don't want to wait A YEAR to cruise). These are on the Wonder, and I wonder what they will do for the people who had 3 and 4 day cruises booked over those dates??? I think technically they only have to refund deposits, but I bet those who squeek will get some grease ::yes:: Think I'll :boat: over to the cruise boards and see what's going on there. Later!
pirate: Yep, I'm betting they have some pretty pissed 3 and 4 day cruise passengers after that announcement ...the irony of it is that those who choose take the 3 and 4 day cruises do so because they simply don't have the time and/or money to take a 10 or 11 day cruise which makes it doubly painful for them I'm sure :(

::yes:: ::yes::

I am dying over those new cruises, but no way in hell can I wait THAT long to cruise. St. Kitts is by far - BY FAR - my favorite island of all time! It is spectacular!!!!! I will save up for an adults only cruise the next time they do this. BUT man, are those super tempting cruises.
What she said! ;) :p All except St. Kitts...I've never been there but I gotta say Bermuda is BY FAR my favorite island....no poverty at all...very clean and very beautiful :sunny: ...I'm just afraid with all the new cruise ships stopping there that it will be ruined :( oh well, one can always hope it will stay such a wonderful place :goodvibes

cadburysmom did Jordon have fun at his camp? Why don't you switch yu=our dates and come cruisin with us!!! HUH!! why don't cha...Jordon would have fun with my boys on the sports deck/eating pizza/burgers/ice cream/et al plus you and I could empty the ship of anything chocolate..
:boat: Oh ChocolateSista, it would be so great to cruise with you too...Jordan would absolutely LOVE romping around with your boys...but as you know, you've picked one of the most popular cruise dates and at those rates, I'm sure we couldn't even afford a broom closet in the pit of the ship! :p

oh cadsmom, forgot to say (but geffric reminded me) that the pepole on my cruise seem totally awesome (not typical DIS'rs, though) - big partyers too. I am scared I can't keep up. But there are very few DIS'rs on the cruise. There's only two other families plus their friends. I chose an unpopular cruise obviously, hence why I could afford it.
Not to worry, I'm sure once you get into "cruise mode", you'll have no problem keeping up with the partyers ;) So glad you're cruising with fun people...gives you alot to look forward too! ::yes::

I look like a nerd---rigged my glasses up until my replacement frame arrives next week, but I can at least see a little better.

OK you North Carolina babes. Its about time for me to start up on my second (used to be my first) Internet Obsession. Yes, folks, its time to start addressing those post cards and lurking on the boards of the.....

HGTV DREAM HOME!

This year's home is in Lake Lure at the Grey Rock community. It looks spectacular. NCBelle, aren't you in this area? Every year the board members (of which I am not one but I have been lurking obsessively since 2000) look for people to do some scouting out. So I am asking my NC friends to scout out the area for me. Don't start thinking you are going to win, though. That is reserved for ME and only me - just kidding (and I would put smilies here but I am being driven insane today by the board quirks so I don't want to make any rash moves and switch to a pop up or some such other nonsense). The house so far looks like my absolute dream house - this may be the best year yet. Every year I put several hundred post cards (yup that many) into the mail box and every year I don't win.

OK - so who else is an HGTV DReam Home addict? Anyone???? Here's the link so I can draw you all in too: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dream_home/

OK, so from now on I may revert to referencing my other obsession, so now you all know about it and I don't have to come clean when I start talking about North Carolina like I am about to move there.
:confused3 Never been to Lake Lure but heard it's beautiful and has a wonderful spa. I think it's somewhere near Asheville. Lake Norman (near Charlotte) is typically where the "rich and famous" have their NC lake houses :snooty:...huge mansions on the water...they used to be classics but now so many are built with modern designs that it takes away from the natural beauty...just my opinion of course :bitelip:

Good luck winning the HGTV dream house on Lake Lure....it looks absolutely gorgeous and you must promise to invite us all up for a weekend when you win it...we'd have a blast! ::yes::
