Um, no, well sort of, but actually, no not really. ;) I got it for ME and ME alone. DH's not allowed to see those movies where there's too much skin. It puts all sort of bad ideas in his head. :rotfl2:

hmmmm.... Don't let him see Thomas Crown Affair either.

Hey guys - just stopping by at a totally wierd hour for me to be DIS'ing, but I am trying to do some work - and well, that means I must DIS.

Everything is fine after today, but more follow ups are needed. ... she's going to be a Supreme Court Justice anyways so its neither here not there and I hated piano lessons anyways.

Castlegazer, I haven't read all the background (yep, call me skimmer), but I'm with DHB on the good that you're having her checked early. My youngest was very quirky, but no one, including the ped had a clue that she had sensory integration problems. In her case, early intervention would have made such a difference and probably avoided the food avoidance phobias she has now. I finally read an article in a magazine when she was in 2nd grade and said, "That's my kid!" It's a relief to know what's going on, because then you can work on it. Keep us informed, and you are in my prayers!

p.s. She'll be a LIBERAL SC justice, right????? :teeth:

OOOh , Belle, I LOVE Ding! I got $84 each way for each of us to fly to Oakland to see DH's parents. Such a deal! I'm kinda watching for December to come out, just in case there's a hop to Orlando in my future.

And you should look at a land/sea combo. We've done it twice and LOVED it. You would, too. You can build a computer next year!

:) ILT :rotfl:

:wave2: Our computer won't last that much longer---freezes up, crashes, and the mouse (we are on the 2nd or 3rd) is about worn out.

NC Beast can't take that much time at once (well Thursdays-Sat. mornings are hard) until next year. We have to go to Baltimore and PA for family visits in Late Nov. or early Dec.---using his Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NYE PTO early. He gets stuck doing holidays even if the holiday is his normal day off---I used to get stuck too when I worked. We have been good on our budget lately so we can splurge on a short trip.

:( Our oldest nephew was just diagnosed by a retina specialist at the Wilner Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins with a genetic cone disorder. We are so tempted to invite MIL/FIL to our October trip because they are stressed about their grandson and friends passing on. They would love the F&W fest---FIL likes to do tastings (Guiness, Jameson, etc) on their trips to Ireland. They have not been to WDW since 1977/8 when Space Mountain was new. We won't decide on that until August/Sept. I don't know if I can be sane after a couple of days of sharing a studio with---its different when it is a rental condo and house.

I HAVE to worry about him, he's my little guy. Hopefully you are right, he'll know to stay away from the bad ones. He's always been really good about picking the "right" friends. Still, worry, I must do. ;)

I can't stand when they make a sequel to a recent movie and have a different cast. It's so stupid. Who cares to watch it then? :confused3

Did anyone watch Brat Camp last night?

Woo Hoo! Any friend of yours is a friend of ours! Welcome BrokenDreams555, wherever you are!!

Ok. All caught up.

ILT, if it means you stopping in here to chat with us, then I think I like you just the way you are. ;)

Castlegazer, I'm glad that you are finding out all these things and doing what needs to be done. That must offer you some relief from worry. Not knowing is the worst, IMO. When do we get to see a recent picture of the little princess??? :goodvibes

Lewski, you talk too much. :smooth:

Oddball, like DHB said, any friend of yours is a friend of ours. Bring her on!

Rick, wellllll, how'd it go? I hope you brought in boatloads of money. And I, like DHB, want to know who the performers were.

Geffric - DETAILS woman!!!!

I hope I didn't forget anyone. Buggins is up, gotta run! :moped:

well i do need to ketchup.. haven't had the time to see what is happening yet . but ..

WELCOME ALLYSON!!!!!!
Castlegazer glad that you tookj her early and that thethings are little and not big. PD and prayers for you and your family.

DHB - if we really go, (come on DING give me a good fare) we would love to meet with you in November.

I need to read about Cadsmoms cruise.. oh well

.. our trip was great..

Family reunion was wonderful. We had a great time over the weekend with my cousins et al. The hotels were all messed up in a sense 'cause it was set for when my Dad was going with us.. Be that as it was.. Friday and Sat we were at the GCH on points. (Never do that again, comlpete waste of points.). but the hotel is wonderful. We had a balconey that overlooked downtown Disney right above the Disney store. We watched the fireworks from our balconey the first night. We then moved to the Carousel ( directly accross from DL and next to McD's and Mimi's) and had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite.

Saturday was a park day, the plan that worked for us was..

We got to DL to stand in line for the 8 am opening. We did Matterhorn first, both sides, then went toward Spash, got a fast pass for Indy, went on Thunder MT RR twice, then Splash without any wait over 15 minutes. Went on Jungle Cruise, fast passed Buzz, then went on SPACE MOUNTAIN>>> Yes it is OPEN!!!>>>> Most wait times is 60 minutes and no fast pass.. but the line moves fast, but then it was.. READY??

10 am. so time to hop to DCA.. we fast passed Grizzly then Soarin' ( yep 2 fast passes at the same time) and went on California Screaming and Tower of Terror with minimun waits. Lunch then a leisurely afternoon using the fast passes in place, kids did single rider line ( no wait) for Grizzly most times was 6 in a row..and fast passing Roger Rabbit, and autotopia ( sp)..

One night we watched the DL firworks from the ferris wheel in DCA.. really a sight but one needs to be in the park for the full effect. Most nights we watched from Main Street..

San Diego was cold but fun. we did the Wild Animal Park and loved it. The zoo was great too but we liked the wild animal park better. SeaWorld was great as always.

The only wonderful meal was breakfast at Story Teller in the GCH. Great food!!!! Also the boys spend a lot of time at DCA visiting the tortilla factory and the bread factory for the free sample. We did eat to the bread factory one day i had a wonderful Chicken and apple salad in a bread bowl. Way too much bread for me but DH ate his bowl and mine..

Now to skim and see what I missed...

Did anyone watch Brat Camp last night?

No, my husband drew the line on that one (I have to sneak in watching Average Joe when he is upstairs with our son). I am a big fan of Cooking under Fire on our PBS station, so that is what I watched and then worked for a few hours.

NCBelle - my prayers are with your family too.

iluvtink - I can't post pics from work, but the next time I am DIS'ing from home I will post new pics of Catrina.

geffric - This California stuff is all Greek to me. I haven't been to DL since I was a wee tot. It sounds like its a mixed bag for both you and bluebayou. But sounds like your time was good and you had a fun trip. I miss having family reunions - we moved from the midwest before I was born and the rest of our huge family is out in MI, so they have many, many get togethers, and we get left out of it all. I am glad yours was wonderful.

Tell me how space camp went.

WELCOME BrokenDreams555!!!

Jordon is at Space Camp this week Eric goes next week.. really poor planning on our part that Jordon and Eric couldn't meet plus then the chocolatesistas would meet and have some chocolate together..

Back to work.. talk to ya later

I remembered that they were back to back weeks and knew Jordan was there this week, but thought erroneously that Eric went first. Sorry. I would have loved to do this when I was a child.

I am trying to find a way to make a big deal about the launch to my son and have him get interested in space flight, but I am also scared to do it because I don't want him to see what happens if something really bad happens. Am I being overprotective?

It would be fun to do Space Camp and all sorts of things that the kids do now.. but .. oh well.. at least they can do it. There is a parent child Space Camp..in case your interested but your son needs to be much older to do it.. maybe 8 or so..

There will be other space launches for him to watch.. so no big deal this time..

Hi all! Last night was a blast! The only performer I knew was Curtis Blow of "Basketball" fame. He put on a great show! There were others as well but I have no idea who they were. Man, I'm old!

As for the b-ball players, it was a bunch of All Star players in school leagues lead by a some NBA guys for each team. Again, I have no idea who they were. I'm old and I'm b-ball stupid.

But I had a great time, the volunteers did amazing albeit tiring work, and our clients really enjoyed themselves. (Our clients are chronically homeless men and women who are part of our housing/vocational training/day treatment programs). We had a BBQ for the men and women before everything got rolling and they loved it. Haagen Dazs donated more icecream than I've ever seen in one place and boy, is my wrist tired from scooping, scooping, scooping. We all also smelled like grilled hotdogs and burgers by day's end too.

The most gratifying thing during the day/evening is seeing our clients work hand in hand with our volunteers like a well oiled machine. Everyone was respectful and EVERYONE worked. I kept trying to tell the clients that they were invited as guests and we were there to work but they refused to budge and wanted to work alongside us. It was a sight!

Once the show, speakers and players got started, it was pretty cool. The courts were outdoors in the heart of Greenwich Village (lover Manhattan) and community residents and folks from all over were taking it all in. Lots of t-shirts were sold, prizes were given out and donations came in. I have no idea of the kind of money that was raised, but truthfully, we were there for the exposure and it was a LOT of exposure!

Anyway, I gotta run again. I promised to volunteer (for where I used to work) at another fundraiser this afternoon and I have some work to finish here first.

Hope you guys have a great day!

Good afternoon all! :sunny:

Geffric Great trip report ChocolateSista...so sad we'll miss each other in Huntsville but there's always WDW! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Castlegazer You are such a good mom and have such a wonderfully positive attitude towards Catrina's health issues. That kid is darn lucky to have you! ::yes::
Oh, and yes, they DO have a parent-child Space Camp program...friends have done it and had a blast!!

NC Belle Poor guy...Sending prayers and PD out to your nephew :(

RickinNYC Way to go! :cool1: So glad the fundraiser was a such a success...sure wish I coulda been there too.....and darn it, with free Haagen Daz to boot! :p

:badpc: My stupid 'puter is down so I'm actually at a friend's house to print my Southwest boarding pass...don't wanna get stuck in the back of the plane :smooth: I'm flying out shortly to pick up Jordan from Space Camp (Hooray!), then on to the beach and should be home Sun....hopefully my stupid 'puter'll be up and running by then.

:earseek: Have you guys noticed a price spike in your groceries?????

I just went grocery shopping at lunch time to pick up what is usually our lean or cost conscious week of food for the crock pot - not too many meats or prepared foods, etc. What usually costs me about $85 cost me close to $150!!!! I went over everything to see where I went out of control and could not find it except - THE COST OF FRUIT AND VEGGIES! I need to spend some more time with this bill to figure it out, but that just waaay blew my budget for the upcoming week and we need some BJ's stuff too (Costco competitor) and that is always $100 a trip no matter what you are buying. :guilty:

Am I imagining it, or did food prices just spike too? Oh and I didn't even buy OJ or milk today (those things have truly spiked). But you know what I found, I like prepared salads in the bag, i.e. a Ceasar, etc. and I have found them shrinking the size of the salad inside the bag - I had to pick up two bags today because we are all huge salad eaters. That alone was freegin $7! Plus my little avocado addiction - I make a great guacamole that everyone requests on weekends.

Oh man, between gas, my second mortgage (read: daycare bill), and groceries, we are sooo going into the poor house.

Do you all think a recession is near?
