We all had a bit of a lie in that day. We knew it was going to be a late night so we took it easy.
We had breakfast at sizzlers and then the other woman led the way to Magic Kingdom. It ended up being quite busy there and we had to use the fast passes on some of the rides.
Mom was persuaded to go on the transportation ride in futureland. Mr and Mrs BiGGy couldn't help laughing as they made their way through the tunnel. They didn't tell mom that the screaming she heard was from the people on space mountain. They were sure that she was holding onto her backpack for comfort, or was it that she may have had a parachute in there 'just in case?'
It was hard finding a place for the afternoon parade, but we eventually found a spot near the beginning.
We managed to get into the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. As always, the food was great. Biggy was all excited as he knew that the characters would be out and about. Mom had her picture with pluto. Paddy, her faithful mut back home, would not be happy. DD had her picture with Minnie. This was quite a bonus for Minnie as five years previous, DD had to be prized off her heroines waist.
Now, BiGGy was excited because tomorrow was his 35th birthday. Right up to the holiday he had tried to find out what his surprise was. Bribing the kids with money and Mrs BiGGy with decent wine just hadn't worked. Mrs BiGGy, mom and the kids decided to sit him by the big christmas tree and gave him his birthday cards and his present. BiGGy jumped for joy. His ultimate dream was going to come true. He was going to race a NASCAR on his birthday!
Excitement over, we all went and got our wristbands for the party and headed off for our free picture. Well, national lampoons vacation just didn't do it justice. Mr and Mrs BiGGy, being the only sane ones in the picture, were the only ones without the dodgy christmas hats on.
We took our seats on the edge of the pavement to wait for the christmas parade. David 'BiGGy' Bailey was just behind setting up his camera rig. Super shutter speed was set, wide angle lens was on and monopod was set at the right height. God help anyone who stood in the way of that perfect picture!
Mom, always on the hunt for freebies, took junior to help with the cookies and hot chocolate. The small tupperware box was in use again! We all knew we would be eating christmas cookies for days.
The fireworks were awesome. BiGGy laughed as he watched his wife try and film Tinkerbell flying from the top of the castle. Even with her coke bottle bottom lenses, he knew they would all get motion sickness watching the video later.
