MP3 player and computer question

My daughter has a MP3 player. EVERY time she plugs it into the our computer it locks up and we have to restart the computer. Anyone have suggestions why this would be happening? Thanks!

How old is your computer? Maybe it's freezing up because you have a lot of things running on your computer, which, after plugging in your mp3 player, just can't handle the workload.
