Okay, I just bought an mp3 player (granted a cheap one but I have to start somewhere). Well, I just wanted to take some of my cds and put it on the cute easily portable device but nooooo, we can't do that. It seems everything I try to put on is a locked file and nothing plays. Help help, am I stuck with an expensive radio or is there really a way to make this work for me?

It's true, the technology bested me :sad2:

There are two basic steps to go from CD -> MP3 player. First you have to rip the tracks off the CD and store them on your computer as mp3 files. Then you have to copy the mp3 files to the player.

What software are you using for ripping the files. If you are using Window's Media Player, go into tools/options/Rip Music. Make sure you have mp3 as the format and that copy protect music isn't selected. If you are using some other software, check similar options - it sounds like your software is trying to copyprotect the files it creates.

Good luck,
Sal

It's probably not in mp3 format that's why you're having trouble
