MP3 downloads?

I got a MP3 player for Christmas. Whats the best site to get music and videos from. I do not mind paying for it.

If you don't use iTunes, I can't speak for video... but for MUSIC, I would say go to amazon.com.

I recently discovered Amazon's MP3 downloads (after shopping on there for years!). They have some really amazing deals, including a "deal of the day" that sometimes is just unbelievable. Go to the Amazon site. On the left under "departments" pick "digital downloads" and then "MP3 downloads." The daily deal is in the top left corner. They also have a lot of free downloads. You have to download the Amazon "downloader," but it's no big deal. The songs download right into iTunes. Also, if you shop a lot at Amazon, they recently gave $3 credits to most of their customers. If you download something for less than that, you'll probably see that you weren't charged at all for it.

In addition, I understand Apple is going to reduce the price of many of its songs to 69 cents in the near future.

Can I use itunes to download on a mp3? I thought that was for apple and ipods only? Sorry Im very new at this.

Videos - MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, DivX with media converter software
Music - MP3, WMA
photos - JPEG

My dad got it for me. I know nothing about it!

I joined rhapsody. Do they really want me to pay 15. a month and .99 per song? Am I missing something? I thought unlimited meant I could d/l as much as I wanted for 15. a month!

I'd be careful with the Sansa and check their website often (at least once a month) for software updates, etc.

I've had a Sansa 2gb Express MP3 player for over a year now and although I don't hate it, I don't love it either. I've had more problems with that thing than I expected to have, really.

I also recommend Amazon.com for music downloads. It's very quick and easy and the songs do not have the Digital Rights Management on them. That means you can copy and transfer the songs to your hearts content and nothing will stop you.

I thought iTunes only did the AAC format and from the looks of it your player doesn't support that format.

Another vote for Amazon.com.

Rhapsody is good, if your MP3 player is a Rhapsody-approved device, and you're interested in their subscription service. I have Zune's subscription service, and it is the best thing since sliced bread.

We had used limewire for years until it recently screwed up my laptop.

Now we use Amazon and Walmart. Most songs are .74 on walmart and really easy to download.

One more vote for Amazon. Very fast, easy. No muss, no fuss. Prices are pretty good - sometimes they have one or two day deals that are incredible. I downloaded a couple of albums last week (thanks to John for the heads-up) (granted they were classical music, so not as popular) each had 99 "songs" on them and the whole album was $1.98. They have deals on other genres as well though. Between that and the Kindle, I may never buy a physical copy of a book or CD again.
