What exactly is a Mozzarella and Tomato Stack at Olivia's? Is it like a mozzarella stick??

TIA!!!

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it's fresh mozzerella and tomatoes stacked up on a plate, probably with some basil and/or olive oil

That's exactly what it is..........and it's that "buffalo" mozzerella, whatever that means. LOL
They usually drizzle it with balsamic vinegar and if the tomatoes are nice and fresh it makes a really delicious salad/appetizer!

Buffalo Mozzarella is made from the milk of a water buffalo. It has a milder taste from what you are probably used to. It's very soft and very good with tomatoes, olive oil and basil.

Most "fresh" mozzarella is buffalo mozzarella.

Seriously? I thought it was just a name........not necessarily named because of the critter it came from! LOL Thanks!

And yes......it's soft and very very good with fresh tomatoes. I'm soooo hungry right now. popcorn::

In Italy they call it a " Caprese Salad " (specialty of Capri) and it is soooooo delicious if made with the ripest of tomatoes, good balsamic vinegar, fresh basil, and buffalo mozzarella.

I believe Le Cellier also has it as an appetizer.:lovestruc

DD and I always order this if it's on the menu! However, a few WDW restaurants serve it with onions mixed in and a lot of Balsamic. Tasty, but still not the true appy of tomato, buffalo mozzy, and olive oil.

Kind of off topic. Here is my favorite version of Caprese salad. Find the freshest tomatoes you can. If not ripe keep in paper bag for a day or two. Fresh mozzarella ( I purchase from good market), it will look like a big white ball in water. Fresh basil, and the most important ingredient, Fig infused balsamic vinegar from Williams Sonoma. I have tried other infused vinegars and nothing compares.

Slice top off tomato, gently squeeze to discard seeds.
Slice tomato ( not lengthwise)
slice cheese to fit size of tomato slice.
Arrange slices on plate one slice tomato/mozzarella on top.
season with fresh ground pepper.
slice basil into thin strips, sprinkle on top.
Gently pour balsamic vinegar on top, do not drown.
Enjoy!!
