Hi all...DH and I are down to two resorts...the MOWC or the Caribe Royale...Has anyone stayed at both that would prefer one over the other, or if anyone could give opinions/pros and cons of both we'd greatly appreciate it...also, is there a krispy kreme located in MOWC?

These are both beautiful resorts, I don't think you can go wrong. I have been in both, but not stayed over night in either, yet. One difference between them I believe is that the Caribe Royale is an all suites resort, some (maybe all) have fully equipped kitchens. Mousesavers.com has a very nice write up with pictures here: http://www.mousesavers.com/cariberoyale.html
I don't know what the price difference is between them, but both are beautiful, great locations, and with fabulous pools!

RobinLyn:)

I'd agree with RobinLyn, you can't go wrong with either. I have not stayed at of these resorts either, but have "checked out" both of them on past trips for future stays. They both have excellent pools, and they are not that far from each other (maybe a mile apart?). The pros for Caribe Royale would be more space, a suite set-up, a free breakfast, and usually a better rate than at the MOWC. The pros for MOWC would be that it's a Marriott, and the rooms are probably a little newer. Either resort would be great in my book, but it usually comes down to price for me. ;) I bid on priceline hoping to get MOWC or Gaylord Palms (which is another to consider if you can catch a deal), and came up with the Wyndham Palace (of course).

I have a question about the Cabibr Royale. I looked at there site and I did not see any thing about free breakfest. Is the free breakfest included with the Mouse saver rate?

I am here now and we just went by the Carribe and it is a beautiful hotel!!! I would not hesitate to stay there at all. It is actually more convenient then staying at the DTD hotels, because the bus system is only for that hotel, where as if you are staying at one of the DTD hotels you share your bus system.

Can't comment on the Marriott but have stayed 2-3 times at Caribe. We are considering staying again this fall. Mousesavers rate is best I have heard of. 2 yrs ago we paid $149/ni.; best rate I could find. It is a suite hotel. 2 q. beds, dresser/armiore and tv in one room; minibar, fridge, couch, table & chairs w/tv in other room. Breakfast is hot and great; also cereal/muffin/coffee b'fast is served in the lobby of each individual tower if you don't need the big b'fast. Vanity is outside of the bathroom which makes getting ready easier for our whole family. Kids loved pool w/slide. Any specific q's let me know.

According to the reservationist that I spoke with there, the free breakfast feature will end permantely on Sept. 15.
It was, indeed, included with the mousesaver rate. Which, btw, is excellent.

The website now only lists the free breakfast as being included with some of the promotional packages. I guess they can only discount the rates so much before they have to cut back. I thought the included breakfast was one of the factors that made Caribe Royale a good buy.

Lewis,
When I made the ressies just about a month ago, the discounted rates also included breakfast. As I stated, the reservation agent at the hotel told me because they were adding another restaurant the free breakfast would be discontinued on Sept. 15,2002 for everyone. Not sure what the addition of another restaurant had to do with it, but, that is how he presented it to me.

Gail--I'm agreeing with you, the website is no longer showing the free breakfast. Some of the promotional packages include breakfast, doesn't say buffet could be a restaurant voucher. The breakfast buffet area takes a large section out of the main building. I suspect they want to convert that into a more conventional restuarant. They're supposed to be building an additional tower.
I think the low rate necessary to fill the hotel required some cut-backs. If it takes a $99 rate to fill the rooms the free breakfast has to go?

I see what you mean Lewis, sorry for the confusion. And, I do agree, they have to fill the resort somehow and loosing the breakfast made some sense for the bottom line.
