Hi everyone,

Is there a list somewhere that has rides that include a moving walk way? I had knee replacement surgery this past November and am worried about the moving walk ways, so if you can help point me in the right direction or if you just know, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I don’t have a list, but I know from experience with family members that they’ll slow down or stop the walkway for you if you need it.

I don’t know of a list, but here’s the ones I know of:

MK-
Pirates has a steep moving ramp upon exit. I think there’s an elevator somewhere but I’m not certain.

People Mover has a steep moving ramp up to the platform, then a moving circular walkway to board. It can’t be stopped or slowed down.

PP, Mermaid, Buzz, and HM have walkways at the loading/unloading area. PP can not be stopped or slowed down. Buzz and HM load handicap in a different area and the belt can be slowed down/stopped. Mermaid is the same area and it can be slowed down/stopped.

AK- Kali River Rapid

Hollywood- none

Epcot- Spaceship Earth has a circular moving walkway to board that can be stopped if using the back handicap entrance. They take a large group up at the same time.

Nemo- normal walkway like PP, HM, etc. Fairly sure it can be slowed down/stopped as this happens to us frequently while riding it.

They can't do it for all rides though. I know there are one or two where they won't. Hopefully someone else remembers which ones.

I do believe that all the omnimover rides in the parks are going to have moving walkways due to the constant flow of loading.

they can not stop the Peter pan moving walkway or the people mover walkway but the other ones they can. I would also post this on the disability part of this bard. if you have more question.

Spaceship Earth has one; they can slow it down for you, though.

Yeah but I think they’ll stop it if need be (this happens with haunted mansion frequently). I’ve never heard of there being rides where they won’t stop the walkway, but it’s defi possible I’ve just never encountered it

To add to above:

EPCOT - Spaceship Earth. Nemo.

They can definitely stop the People Mover walkway. I think it might involve stopping the entire ride, though? My mom has mobility issues and had trouble getting out of the PM vehicles, and they stopped it for her at the last second. I've also seen them stop the moving ramp heading up to the PM when a family decided that they needed to stop and talk right after they got off of it, leading to a clog at the top.

Kali River has a separate loading area that does not have a moving ramp. they will add other guests to fill raft

There is a list of attractions with moving walkways on the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

In MK for PP or the TTA Peoplemover — they will not stop or slow the walkways on request; capability and s there is for emergency need only. It creates unsafe situations on the rides for other guests if stopped. If you don’t think a member of your party can managed these rides, please avoid them.

Pretty much any other moving walkways can be slowed (or stopped) on request. However, when the parks are very busy sometimes they will refuse to do so. It is at the discretion of the CM at the ride.

Enjoy your vacation!

I haven't had knee replacement, but I do have stability issues... sometimes even on solid ground. :rolleyes1

Not sure if it will help you, but for me when I step onto/off of one of the moving walkways I have to keep walking at least for a step or two. If I step on or off and stop I feel like I am losing my balance. It's an inertia thing. :)
