Moving trip from July to Thanksgiving...bad idea?

Due crowd concerns following foot surgery, I have decided to reschedule our trip from late July to the Thusday-Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I've heard mixed things about this time of year and I figure with all the good stuff spread across two parks this might be a good time to go. Having a daughter in high school makes it impossible to go off-season, but I'm hoping for the best! What do you all predict?

It will go from 0 to 60. Little crowds on Thursday, then Friday night watch out because it will be busy. Sat-Tues very busy. A lot of people go Thankgiving week.

Many Southern California schools are closed the week before Thanksgiving, and if I recall correctly, there are no AP blockouts Monday-Wednesday. I think starting Sunday, your days will be very, very busy--I would predict as busy or even busier than your July dates.

If you can switch your dates to start no earlier than Thanksgiving or Black Friday, crowds should be a bit lower. Monday-Thursday after Thanksgiving should be MUCH less crowded but will probably have off-season hours and entertainment (park closing about 8 PM).

The good thing about around Thanksgiving is that the weather is usually cooler--cooler weather makes crowds more bearable, at least for me.

Have a great trip, whenever you go!

I really can't comment on the crowds, but even if it's crazy at Thanksgiving time, at least your foot will be further along in the healing process, and hopefully less of a concern. I've had foot surgery, and you do get nervous about people stepping on your feet! Good luck with the surgery, and have a great trip...whenever you go!

This is actually my second foot surgery. Following my first foot surgery we went and rented a scooter mostly so I wouldn't get stepped on. I can't imagine trying to get around the new Carsland in a scooter. And we love love love the haunted mansion change. There's so much to love whenever we go!
