Hi everyone,
I was just reading Hilarys post below about some friends of hers moving to Florida.
Some of you may remember me as "Madmouse". I used to post on these boards but now I live in Florida and have done for nearly 3 years .
We like many others were fed up with our lives in the Uk and decided to sell up and purchase a business over here and I have to say it is the best thing we ever did, the lifestyle is great and weather is fab all year round( Apart froma few hurricanes!!)
Its not difficult to get a visa to come over here - the easiest way is to purchase a business - this way you qualify for an E-2 Visa - usually valid for 5 years and then renewed based on if your company still meets the criteria needed for renewal.
Hilary - I totally know what you mean when you say your work colleagues dont understand your fascination with the US - I felt the same way as you hence our move over here.
If anyone wants any advice on what my life is like now - how we made the move - name of a business broker or a visa consultant then please feel free to reply to this message or send me a PM. It may take me a few days to reply to you as work here is a bit hectic at the moment but I will do my best to give anyone advice or help.
Have a fab day everyone
Sarah.
