I had to have my entire hard disk wiped out and am in the process of putting every thing back on it. I just downloaded Itunes again and it took several hours but I got all the podcasts downloaded again but all my music is on my Ipod. Is there a way to move it back over from my Ipod to the Itunes on my laptop?

Google "senuti" (that's iTunes spelled backwords, get it?). I don't know if it's mac-only or cross-platform.

I would also recommend looking on the forums on ilounge.com.

LOL! I guess I should have been more specific and said an EASY way! I take it from that response, there isn't? All my music is from my CD's so I can put it back one at a time, I was just hoping for an easy way to just click and drag or something like that But my daughter said not to try it unless someone told me exactly how.

I had the same problem when I got a new computer. I googled the question and found a message board (it might've been ilounge, I don't remember) and the answer didn't seem to be an easy one, so I ended up just re-importing my CDs.

This is not easy to do. I would recommend just putting the CDs back manually.

iTunes is only written to allow transfers in one direction, that is from the host computer to the device. If iTunes allowed transfers back into any music library, the music industry would declare all iPods, pad, phones, little pirating
machines and the content offered through the iTunes store would be very thin.

So While its not as easy as syncing content from your computer to your iPod, it can be done with relative ease, you just need the right program.

I would recommend this program: http://ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/

I have used this program many times, its relatively cheap and can be downloaded instantly. The user interface is VERY intuitive and easy to navigate.

Hope this helps.

This is the program I used as well. I received a new computer at Christmas and came to the Dis with the same question. I was told to check out Senuti. It was easy but created duplicates. I now have a mac so I used a program called Dupin which worked perfectly. It wasn't free, but it was certainly more convenient than having to put 30 GB of music on the new computer one-by-one.

Send me and email and I will forward you an email from apple on this issue

I've used 2 programmes before for this. Both work well and both are very easy to do. A few clicks and the info will start to transfer (which takes time).

Sharepod which is free and just puts the music onto your computer.

Copytrans which costs money but saves your playcounts, artwork etc.

We had a PC hard drive crash last year and lost all of our iTunes files(which included hundreds of CD's -not purchased through iTunes). I can vouch that the software "CopyTrans" works perfectly and couldn't be easier.

I believe it will end up costing you about $15(not sure what it is now) -but for ease of use and peace of mind it is well worth it. Good Luck.

A bought a program at a local Target called "TuneTransfer." It cost $10.00. It worked well and was really easy to work with.
