Moving Resorts Mid-Stay

I'm new here and already can't get enough of this site. Let me ask you this, what if we decide to stay at GF concierge level for 3 days and move to AKL club level for the remaining 4 days - will they move your luggage over? I'm assuming they will. I just can't decide which resort to stay at and wouldn't mind both. We'll be travelling w/ our DD ages 3 and 11 at the time. Any suggestions? Crazy idea? All input appreciated.

Yes, Disney will move your luggage for you. It's quite easy. Basically, you call bell services at the first resort, and tell them you would like your luggage moved to the second resort. They will pick it up, and give you a claim ticket. Your luggage will be moved to the second resort, and arrive mid-to-late-afternoon.

I've done this several times without a hitch. I just have the luggage picked up at the first resort bright and early, go to the parks for the day, and head over to the second resort sometime after "official" check-in time.

I am probably going to get some people upset, but I would not switch resorts. We did it for the first time this year, 6 nights at AKL and 5 at POR, because we couldn't book the 11 nights with our AP. Disney was great about transferring our luggage, and check-ins were quick. What we didn't like was packing up halfway through our stay. The packing, unpacking, and getting used to a different resort took time (especially with 2 teenagers) and even though it wasn't a problem, we all agreed we would prefer to stay at one resort.

during our next trip - we are doing 3 resorts in 6 nights.
yep - 3.

1st night at pop
2nd night at Royal Pacific (universal resort)
3rd through 6th night at PO Riverside.

we've done 2 in one stay - so this is a new record for us i think! hehehe

I LOve switching resorts but I've also been to WDW a bunch of times and "know the ropes"

If this is your first trip, staying in one place might be more relaxing. But I think your proposal sounds awesome!!

I'm going back in 2 weeks and here's the way we're splitting it up:

7 nights at AKL Concierge
3 nights at Beach Club (first time staying there)
7 nights at GF

Personally, I love staying at a couple of different places to experience all that each resort has to offer. I think it's harder to do when you're travelling with little ones, though. Mine (ages 2 and 4) are slow to warm up to new places and would rather stay at one resort for the whole vacation because it becomes a second "home" to them. I guess it depends on the personality of your children...

I didn't think it was a big deal. In fact, it was so smooth that I'm doing 3 resorts in 9 nights this go around. Just don't plan on having your room for nap time. I see you have a 3 year old. If naps are a must like they were for my son at that age, see about late check out once you arrive at GF, but still have your luggage moved early on check out day. That way you have a room to use in case you room at AKL isn't quite ready. They may only be able to give you until noon or 1 pm at GF though depending on availability, but it's worth checking into. You may luck out and have your room ready at AKL pretty early. Just have back up plans and it'll be no big deal. ITA, they give too many choices to be able to decide where to stay.
