moving reservation dates?

Hi Everyone! If I book a trip for 5 nights/6days in late september now, and for some reason we need to move it up a few weeks to late august/early september, is that possible? Can I shift my dates pending rooms are still available? will I be charged a big fee for moving dates? Thanks in advance!
