Moving Points on a Res

So, we have a 150 CCV resale contract and we're staying at AKL in September on those points. We also have a 100 point Poly resale contract. We are considering selling the CCV contract and purchasing something different, but don't really feel like waiting until that September reservation to have a closing date. So, can I call into MS and have them shift the points on the reservation from our CCV contract to the Poly contract? It would mean borrowing a few from 2023, and I didn't even know if that was possible. We have a Kidani studio so I'd hate to just cancel the res and then try to rebook, because, well, studios within 7 months and all that.

In the end we'd essentially want our September res to go from one contracts points to the other without cancelling. Hopefully I didn't bungle the explaining there. Is that possible? If so, call in to MS or is that a lucky thing that can be done via email?

Are both contracts under the same membership? If so, then MS should be able to reallocate the points given that the reservation was made using the non-home resort booking window.

If they are different memberships then the only way to switch would be to cancel and re-book.

Since the reservation was made made within the 7 month window, and assuming both ownerships of CCV and Poly are in the same use year and same owner names, you can change the points to those from Poly. You can call or you can do it via a modification of your reservation online. Online, you would choose to "modify" to the same resort and dates and then choose only the Poly contract to provide points for it.

you could see if there is availability and then just book a new room with the Poly points- you can borrow up to 50% of your points from next year. Then after that is booked cancel your reservation made with the CCV points.

Thanks for all the help everyone! The two contracts are the same use year, so same membership number. My only hesitancy with cancelling then trying to rebook was if someone had the Kidani studio waitlisted and we ended up losing the studio. That's why my goal was switching the points we're using without actually cancelling the reservation first. I've never modified a reservation before, so I wasn't even sure if something like this was possible.

Same UY & membership…easy modification as drusba mentioned. No canceling. It’s a modification that holds your original reservation through the process.

^Adding to the above, the only way you would have to be able to just modify a reservation originally made with one use year using points from both use years together is to first transfer points from one use year to the other.
