Moving luggage between resorts

We're doing a split stay between SSR and BLT. Can we drop off our luggage and stuff at SSR and have them transfer it to BLT for us? We're driving, but it seems like this would be the easiest way to get our stuff from Point A to Point B.

Also, is it customary to tip at drop off and when they deliver it to our room, or just at delivery?

If they move it for you, you will not have access to it at your new resort until late afternoon.

With a car I would have Bell Services load your car and unload it at BLT. If your room is ready, you could move in and not have to wait for your luggage.

We've had a rental car each time, and we do not use Bell Services to transfer our bags.

Depending on our plans, we do basically one of basically two things. (we NEVER leave bags in our car)


Pack up, load up, go to second resort, check in to see if room is available. If it is, take bags up. If it isn't, leave with Bell Services.

Or...

Pack up, load up, go to Bell Services of FIRST resort, leave with them. When we're ready to move to the next one, get bags from BS, drive over to second resort, check in, etc.

We have done 2 split stays. Our last trip we transferred from OKW to BLT. At OKW we stopped by BS on our way back to our room from breakfast to ask about the transfer. They asked when the luggage would be ready, we gave them a time (10:30) and they were at the door to pick up the luggage right on time. We went on our day. When our room was ready at BLT around 3:30 we went to the room called BS and they delivered the luggage straight to us. We had no problems and it went very smooth. It was nice not to have to worry about lugging the bags around ourselves. We tipped on both ends.

Wow, I'm impressed. I have yet to have that kind of service. I always hand off my bags before 8am. And the vast majority of the time I don't see my bags again until late afternoon. One time it took 3 phone calls from POR to BC to get them delivered!! They finally arrived at about 5:30-5:45ish. After being told that my bags would be at POR by 2!! But when called, they told POR CMs that they had been too busy at BC to move any bags yet!!!!


When I have a car, and am making a transfer to another resort???? I always take my own bags. I want to have them with me so I can get into them if I want something. I got stuck at POR for hours with no clean clothes, no bathing suit and it was about 88 that day!!!
If my room isn't ready at the other end, I just leave the bags in the trunk.

Bell Services can move your food as well. They have refrigerated storage. It's helpful if you organize it before they come. It's not a bad idea to keep boxes for soda, beer, etc. if there is going to be a fair amount left when you are ready to move. Consider taking some of the "green" grocery bags with you --- they are more durable than the cheap plastic grocery bags and may be easier for Bell Services to handle. Plus, they're light-weight and collapsable, so they travel well. I thought about these bags on our most recent visit, while we scrambled to find bags for the groceries!

We have done this a few times too. We rebag and mark the bags that need to be refrigerated or frozen with a sharpie marker. We use double bagged paper sacks or boxes or canvas totes rather than the plastic grocery bags. We tip $1 for each bag on both ends.

The problem we have had twice now is that our alcohol somehow didn't manage to make the transfer. We stop and pick up a large bottle of Grey Goose on our way to the first resort and twice that almost full bottle hasn't arrived at our second resort. I've pointed it out to bell services and then I've had to wait in my new room for ages while they go and find it. Nothing else ever manages to go missing. I bag the Grey Goose in it's own bag so that it's got a tag all it's own.

I was whacked $19 plus tip to go from Kidani to the Poly for breakfast one day. No more taxis for us - if I don't have a car, we use Disney transport.

I will also confirm that it was $20 from Kidani to BLT. It was worth it for us, as we had our computers, iPads and other sensitive items that we wanted to move ourselves and fortunately the room was ready when we got to BLT at about 10:30.

And one time there was a screw-up, and I ended up having to wait in my room for my luggage to arrive until almost 6:00. They told me that unlike DME, I had to be in my room-they wouldn't deliver my luggage to an empty room. Thus, I'd rather transfer it myself.

I used to transfer our luggage myself while the rest of the family went to the park that day without me and I"d meet them there. Not worth it to me, I want the time with my family. The last few trips that we have had where we had to transfer from one resort to another, I've used bell services. We've had no problem at all. We call for the luggage when we get to the new resort at the end of the day and it is delivered quickly. Cold food has been kept cold, too. It is MUCH easier to have Bell services do the work for me and afterall, I"m on vacation!

This last trip we had 12 pieces of luggage total with all the food, etc. I tipped $20 when picked up and $20 when delivered. Worth every penny.

Note though - the bell services at Kidani on our Dec trip was horribly understaffed. We checked out of BWV at 11am giving our luggage to bell to transfer to Kidani. It took until 8pm and heading down to the desk on our own to find our luggage. Bell Svcs never came to our room when we were checking out either (waited an hour).

We won't use Bell Services to transfer our luggage any more after they "lost" one of the bags last time. 24 hours later they did manage to find it but there was no urgency and we had to follow up with them several times. Luckily the bag was a laptop bag without the laptop but we would have been really upset if it had been the suitcase with our clothes, etc. I was mostly shocked by Bell Services attitude of they weren't even going to look for it without our bugging them. Each hotel blammed the other. With all the luggage transfer done every day I am sure bags get misplaced but there should be some process for dealing with these situations.

That's why with us, if we have parks on our minds that morning, we leave it with the resort we're checking out of. Then when we are ready to head to the new hotel, we make a quick stop to pick up the luggage and move over to the new place. Family time and no hassles of heading to the new place before rope drop! But I do like having things as much under my control as possible, and I don't want BS to be moving it for me if I can help it. Watching over it is fine, but the moving makes me nervous. (and no we haven't done DME yet)
