We fly in on a Friday night and are using DME (first night at Pop Century). The next day we check into Poly. What are the best transportation options for switching hotels?

Thank you!!

get bell services to move your luggage and then head to a park from pop and just head back to poly after your park day. I wouldnt try and move resorts in the morning

Just an FYI..if you have bell services transport luggage, I read that it can possibly take till after 5PM to get luggage. Both times we did a split stay, we decided against this because of the possible luggage delay and instead chose to use a cab and transport our own luggage. Wanted to get "settled" faster, so worked out better for us. :thumbsup2

You can have Luggage Assistance at Pop move the bags over to the Polynesian, but it won't be quick! As noted above, it could very well be late afternoon before you get them at the Polynesian. I used to have Disney move my bags all the time, but I got tired of waiting for them to arrive, especially since I handed them off before 8am!! I now take a cab to the new resort, with my bags. That way I have the bags if I need something. It's a bit more expensive but not a ton...maybe $15 or so.

Yeah it can take a while for your luggage to be transferred - ours arrived a 5.30pm the other week when being transferred from AKL to Poly. If you are in a hurry to get your luggage your only option is to take a cab.

Just be aware that you cannot take luggage on the buses. So, your only options are having bell services move it, or get a taxi and move it yourself.

Two weeks ago we had our luggage transferred from ASMu to BLT. They said it would be delivered between 1 and 4 which would have been plenty of time before our dinner reservation. It didn't arrive in time and we had to go to California Grill in our park clothes. :( It wasn't too bad because we had only spent three hours at MK, but we wanted to dress a little better. Many people at CR luggage assistance tried to help and many calls were made, but it didn't happen. It was delivered to our room sometime after six. Next time our luggage travels with us. Or at least one bag with necessities that we can leave with luggage service to pick up or have delivered when our room is ready.

The cab cost around $20 or a little over plus tip. I would budget for a cab.

A quick story to illustrate...some of you have heard it before, so keep scrolling!!!
There was the time we were at BCVs...dh went home, dd and I stayed and moved to POR..one of our sentimental favorites. I handed the bags off to Bell Services around 7:30 and headed to a park. It was really hot, early June, so we headed to POR around 1ish. We got there, and we were told our room was ready, but if we wanted to wait, we could get a room in bldg 14!!! Ah, yeah, we'll wait. We had lunch in the food court, ambled around for a bit and our new room was ready around 2:30ish. We found the room (it was perfect!!). I knew our bags wouldn't be there yet....and of course this was the one time I really wished I had my bathing suit. Live and learn. So, we stretched out and watched some tv. Around 4ish, I walked over to Luggage Assistance. No bags yet...okay, no big deal. They told me to check back around 4:45. I did. Nothing. At 5:15, I called again. Nothing. They actually called BCVs to see what the issue was. 'Oh, we've been swamped today..haven't transferred any bags yet. No time. We'll get it there shortly.' Well, I had been at BCVs.....there wasn't anything going on, it was a Tuesday! At 5:45 still no bags....they called again. Same answer. Finally, around 6:15-6:30, my bags arrived at my door. I tried to tip the CM who delivered them...he refused my money. He said there was no way he was taking money for such awful service. I tried to tell him that it wasn't his fault but he didn't much care...just walked away! I left a note at the front desk saying how wonderful and helpful that CM had been!!!!

So, long story short? If you might need anything that day, take it with you and store it at the 'new' resort, or just take a cab and keep your bags with you!!!

Thank you all for your advise! Sounds like a Taxi is our best option. We have dinner at The Boathouse on the night we switch resorts. I don't want to show up looking like a hot mess :)

I have a friend who transferred from POP to OKW last year, they did not get their luggage until 9:00pm. They had left it early morning. They had to keep calling, they were having a hard time locating it.

I can beat goofy4tink's experience. I once changed rooms at Pop, and it took them over twelve hours to find and (re)deliver my luggage!

Poop...guess we'd better pack a contingency bag for the day because we will have a one year old and a pregnant chick (and a 7 year old)
