Moving from Virginia to Florida with an AP questions

We're making a move from VA to Florida in the next few weeks. We'll be living in Melbourne. I bought annual passes a couple months ago for the full price, of course, and the move was rather sudden so I had no idea we would be Florida residents in a couple months. I notice that it's around $400 savings total for both of our annual passes if they had been purchased in Florida.

I was wondering if I contacted Disney, are they likely to give any kind of discount refund, or maybe upgrade me to premier for cheap/free or something once I'm a Florida resident? It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't, but I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this situation and if there is any way to recoup funds.

Also, we took our first visit to Disney yesterday from our new place in Florida (which was also the first time we've ever parked at a park). I paid the parking fee then got home to notice parking is free for AP holders. How do you manage to get that? Just show your AP card to the parking attendant at the gate?

Any help would be appreciated.

Take the parking pass to guest services and explain. It's been my experience that they will give you a cash refund, but I've always done it day-of.

I don't know what, if anything WDW would do with your AP, but it can't hurt to ask. I'd do so at guest relations the same time you ask about the parking. You will need a FL driver's license, so don't try until that is in order.

From a life-long Floridian, welcome. Be prepared for people to tease you about our vote-counting and other problems. Just call them back in January when it's 70 degrees and sunny to talk about the weather.

Don't think you will get anything for your change of residency on your AP this year but I will say that when you renew it if you choose to do so I would do it in person not online to ensure you get the discount.

As for parking just show the CM at the parking gate the back of your AP they may ask for ID just to check that it IS your AP and possibly scan it but that is all.

You can upgrade one AP type to another. I would go to guest services and try and upgrade from your current AP to the FL resident premium AP. Disney does not give refunds, or prorate the extra charges, but it might be worth it to you to try.

We upgraded a couple of years ago when DVC ran the $399 premium AP special. We had regular DVC AP's and upgraded with only 2 months left on them. We had to pay the whole $15 difference for each AP, even though they were about to expire.
