Hi everyone,

in september my DBF and I will be staying at WDW for 2 weeks:D
First a week at PopCentury and then a week at Akl savannah view. Do we have to take our suitcases with us when we change hotels? Or is there some service provided?
Thanks again :wave2:

On the morning you check out from PC, call bell services and have them come pick up your luggage. Let them know when they pick it up that it needs to be transferred to AKL and they will have it done for you. Go out to a park and enjoy and then check in at AKL later that afternoon. Just let them know when you check in that you had your luggage transferred from PC and they'll have bell services retrieve it and brought to your room.

Simple as that;)

Enjoy!!

I don't know if you're talking about using bus transportation or is you have your own car. If you're using bus transportation, I was told (don't know if it's true now) that luggage isn't allowed on Disney buses. I've changed resorts twice with no car. Just dropped my suitcase off at bell services at the hotel I was leaving, then I got on the bus and went to a park for a few hours. When done, I got on the bus for mynew resort, checked in, and when I got to my room, called bell services, and they brought up my luggage within 10 minutes. Very easy!

It's a very easy like Scoootch says. Make sure you take a small bag/knapsack of things you think you might need during the day like sunscreen, medication, swimsuits etc. If you keep with your luggage, you won't be able to get access to it while it's in transit.

We were going to have PC to transfer our luggage to CR but CM said it might not be in the room til after 4pm. Since we had a car we did it ourselves. If you have them transport your luggage just make sure you have what you need. Including a bathing suit. We weren't in our room more than 5 mins before DD11 was beggng to go to the pool. It was only 11:30am.

if you have access to your own vehicle; if you drove down or rented a car, then disney will not transfer your luggage for you; you are expected to do it yourself.

but if you flew in and have no access to transportation, they take care of everything. we had to switch between three resorts on a six day trip once (not by choice, long story LOL) and they made it simple; i just kept my important meds and stuff on me, and they took all the rest. it was always there within a reasonable amount of time.

so don't worry about it! transferring resorts can be done smoothly and take only a minimum amount of time if you know what to expect in advance.

have a wonderful trip!

Sorry to disagree GeekChic, but Disney will move your stuff even if you have your own transportation. However, if I have my own transportation I move it myself because I like to tip the bellmen if they are doing it (about $1 per bag at both sites), and I can get cheap sometimes.

We have a car at WDW and bell services always moves our luggage to our new resort. It has always gone smoothly.

We live in Miami so we always drive. Last Dec. we split our stay between Poly & BWI. We had bell services move our luggage & just drove to the new resort. Very smooth, only had to pack the night before. Also I made sure I took a small bag for the baby & some essentials for us. This Sept. we're splitting our stay between the WL & the Poly & are doing it in part because of the ease of having Disney move our luggage.

Don't worry, you're on vacation, let Disney do what they do best & take care of everything for you. Always makes my vacation a little more magical for us. :wave2:

hmm. i guess it depends on the CM you get. Because on that trip we stayed at 3 WDW resorts; port orleans alligator bayou, Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge. At each hotel, when we told them that we were transferring, we were specifically asked if we had our own transportation. When we said no, we came by plane, the CM's in bell services at all three resorts said that if we had had a car, we'd have had to move the bags ourselves.

this has just been my experience, again, that of others may vary. But my family has taken many trips and I know from experience that if you have your own car, they expect you to move your bags.

Does anyone know if this type of luggage transfer can be done between a WDW owned resort and the Swan?

TIA!!

I don't believe it can be done between Disney resorts and the Swalphin.

May want to wait for confirmation on that, but that's what I remember reading.

No, Disney will not transfer your luggage to the Swan or Dolphin as they are not Disney owned hotels. But they will transferr between their own resorts whether you do or do not have your own transportation.

WE also moved our own luggage because we had some medications that I did not want to haul around all day, but wanted to make sure they got to the resort. We checked into the new hotel early in the morning (bell services there took our luggage and stored it - even the grocery bags - until we arrived in the afternoon). I believe checking in early allowed us to get our choice of rooms (even though the room wasn't ready yet) so was glad we did it that way.

We're staying at two resorts next trip, and since we're driving, we're just going to switch our luggage ourselves. It's not a big deal to us, and it will just be nice knowing our stuff is safe and will be there when we need it to be.

SnackyStacky-LOL about "Swalphin", never heard that one before!!
