Moving floors before and after rides

Sometimes my DH and I have issues with getting on and off rides when there is a moving floor. We both use canes for stability and find it's kind of tough and get a bit anxious maneuvering these areas. Is there something we could ask from the CM to make it easier for us? Usually WDW is one of the few places where we use canes due to all the walking involved.

I know on Haunted Mansion you can ask them to stop the moving walkway. I believe you can do that on most rides except maybe Peter Pan (I have heard that one is an issue so we didn't even try).

I only have first hand experience with the Haunted Mansion though.

I manage to get on HM okay but getting off is a challenge. Last year, a CM took my arm and assisted me two steps to the solid floor. Trying to place the left foot on a moving platform and getting the other off the ride without tripping does give me some anxiety. I would ask the CM prior to boarding what they can do to help.

Thank you both for your replies. The other two rides other than HM that have moving walkways are Spaceship Earth and the People Mover.

They can stop most moving walkways. But they can also slow them too which does make it easier to board since you don't have to rush as much. We used to do that in the past with my mom, but eventually got to the point that it had to be stopped. It was unsafe for her to walk on moving walkways.

Thank you for letting me know about slowing/stopping the walkways. I can let the CM know before getting on the ride but how do they know to do the same after your vehicle arrives at the unloading area?

Yes, just tell the CM you need it slowed or stopped. Some rides like HM at Disneyland, they try to only stop it once per rotation so you have to wait for the specific handicap cars to come around and then you board at that time and then come back to where you boarded to get off (and they will stop it at that time). I usually just say it is unsafe for my mom to walk on a moving walkway so they know it must be stopped for her. If you get off in a different location, just tell that CM that you need it slowed.

usually they mark the vehicle in some way, sometimes it is manually with a visual item, others it is electronically.
