We are staying at WL in June. We like the flight times the day prior to us leaving better so now we are thinking of flying down a day early and stay at POP for the night. We have always driven to WDW so split stays have never been an issue before. Can someone please let me know how long it usually takes for your luggage to get transferred to the next resort? Thanks!

We always drop our luggage around 7 or 8am (depending on the park we're going to). They pretty much always tell us it will be at the next resort by about 3. We usually don't make it to the next resort until 8 or 9pm, so it's always been there by that point.

There's a process that Disney has for moving luggage between resorts. Guests take their luggage to Bell Services sometime before noon. At approx 1pm, luggage from each resort is taken by truck to a central facility where it all is sorted, put on trucks again and delivered to the new resort. That process generally takes around 3 hours (but can take longer).

You should not expect to see your luggage again until after 4pm. It will not be delivered to your room automatically. You will need to stop by Bell Services, or call down from your room and ask them to deliver it.

Make sure you have everything you need for the day with you (meds in particular), as you won't have access to your luggage once you drop it off in the morning.

If you are moving to a DVC room at the Grand Floridian, will it show up at the Bell Services in the Main Building or in the DVC building?

We just had ours transferred from the CR to the Swan. We were told it may not arrive until 5. We were not there when it arrived so cannot confirm the actual time.

We have our first split stay coming up in July (OKW & YC) & we plan to move our luggage ourselves. We won't have a car but will just Lyft/Uber/cab to the YC, that way we know for certain that our stuff will be at Bell Services at YC for when our room is ready.

You actually don't even need to take it to Bell Services; you can have a bellman come to your room to get it instead.

Yes, this is an option, and one i nearly always use. That said, though, be aware that if you have Bell Services come to your room to get your bags, it can take quite a long time for them to get to you. They take those requests first come first served, so depending on the number of people asking for assistance, and where you are in that list, you could be waiting well over an hour for them to get around to you.

If you have plans and need to be on your way, either take the bags yourself, OR, stop by Bell Services the evening prior and schedule a pickup for your preferred time. Scheduled pickups take priority over calls made the morning of. I always schedule a pickup the day before. 100% of the time, Bell Services has arrived 5 min before the scheduled time and we were on our way within 10 minutes.
