Movies' opening nights and the ships

Since they do have a captive audience, it would be nice if they could show it the night before, especially if the next night is disembarkation day.

Sorry it won't happen. They are not allowed to show the movie early.

Saw Big Hero 6 at a premier a couple years ago at midnight. Such a great movie, and it was a really fun experience to watch it at sea.

we just watched Pete's Dragon on the Dream!
We're hoping to see that next week!
We were on the Magic when the Star Wars movie came out and there were multiple showings, and you did not have to stay up until midnight!

Disney's Moana will be released when we are on our Thanksgiving cruise so we are planning to see that. Have also seen several other premiers on our other cruises! Love that Disney does this!!

That's another good question. Will the cruise after the one where the movie was released also get multiple showings of the new movie or is it just an opening night/day thing?

I got a reply from concierge to say that this is what is showing right now...

Zootopia

Captain America: Civil War

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Finding Dory

The BFG

Pete’s Dragon

The Light Between Oceans (PremEAR on September 2nd)

I've usually found multiple showings of MOST of the movies they show on board. Unless one is on its way out of the BVT when it might only be shown once or twice. (Especially on 7-night cruises. But even on a 4-night there were multiple showings.)

We were on the magic 8/13 sailing, Pete's Dragon showed a few times, especially on the last sea day there were multiple showings, one in the Walt Disney Theater. We also had Find Dory, Civil war, and Star Wars the Force Awakens (among the classic films too)

Does anyone know why the light between oceans is Disney? I thought Disney cut off ties with dream works last year. I can't keep up all the things that Disney is part of. Update a quick google search I found my answer. Should of googled it first.

It is hard to keep up and thought exactly the same thing!

For our 7 night in August (8/8-8/15), we had: Alice Through the Looking Glass, Star Wars Force Awakens, Zootopia, Jungle Book (2016), Captain America Civil War, The BFG, Finding Dory, and then we prem-eared Pete's Dragon at 12:01AM Thursday/Friday (8/12/16), and had some showings of it over the next couple of days. They will not list a movie that is premiering until it premiers--so it will be added to the Personal Navigator that day, and they add it to the app after the premier. They added in a showing of Pete's Dragon at 11AM in the Walt Disney Theater on our last day at sea (8/14/16)--which is when we saw it! They also showed "Disney Nature Bears" in the Walt Disney Theater one day as ours was an Alaskan cruise--that was listed as a 'special showing'.

I read that Disney cut ties with Dreamworks on -August 31st 2016 so why they are showing this movie in September unless they can because it was made before August 31st.. Now I am over thinking things lol..

It is BECAUSE it is a fantastic book I'm scared to see it as a movie. The translation is NOT always good. Prince of Tides used to be my favorite book. Then I saw the movie which BUTCHERED the book, and now I can't stand either one.

I know books are always better but I still want to see it. The trailers look promising.

We were on the Disney Dream when Star Wars Awakens premeared.

It opened in theatres Friday. We got off the ship Friday :-) However, some land theatres were showing it as early as 7 pm on THURSDAY, and many others at midnight thurs/fri.

On the ship on Thursday they used both theatres and showed the movie at ~8 pm for those with early dining and ~1015 pm for those with late dining. They repeatedly assured everyone that anyone who wanted to watch it would be able to. They also had a showing a bit after midnight and then another at 5-something in the morning times to end with enough time to get off the ship; both of those were open to anyone.

Also, they shifted the dinner dining times by about 15 minutes. so late dining was at 8 instead of 815, etc. Just for that one day though.
