I'm flying into LAX, visiting DLR four days at Christmas, going to the San Diego Zoo, and going on a Hollywood/Melrose/Rodeo tour. What's the chance I'll see a star?

I've never been out West, and I'm hoping to make the best of it in a week. :goodvibes

.....would I even recongize a "star" without the stage makeup?

In my attempts to get DD11 excited (she really doesn't need anymore help) I told her we may see 'someone from tv or movies'.

Let's just put it this way . . . Don't get your hopes up!

I've had over 40 trips to Disneyland in my lifetime, and not counting the taping of the Holiday Parade (we saw Rascal Flatts, Myley Cyrus and Ryan Seacrest), I have only seen 2 sports stars. Stars at DL are easy to spot because they usually have a tour guide wearing plaid with their entourage and they always enter the rides through the Handicapped entrance. However, it is rare to see them.

Don't know about the Hollywood tour, stars probabaly tend to avoid those routes for obvious reasons.

Hey, it can happen. We were at Disneyland March 2008, in line at the ticket booths, and John Michael Higgins was in front of me. The name might not ring a bell, but I'm SURE you've seen him on TV or in movies, like "A Mighty Wind," "Best in Show," "Arrested Development," "Community," etc. Recognizable face and voice.

He was with some friends or family, including a little girl who dropped her ticket. I picked it up for them, and asked him if he was "the guy from "best in show" and "mighty wind," and we chatted for a moment.

The funny thing is, we had been listening to songs from "A Mighty Wind" on the drive down to Disneyland!

So, there's always a chance you'll see someone, even in an unexpected place!

Well dd and I moved to the LA area a few years ago and often go to the places you mentioned.

We have only seen a few stars but in the most random places.

We did see Nicholas Cage and All & AJ at disneyland. I actually felt bad for the stars because people were making a fuss over them.

To be honest we could have run into more but I wouldn't recognize them without thier "stage" faces.

I have lived in the same general area of L.A. my entire life (adjacent to Beverly Hills/near LACMA and the famous Farmers Market/Screen Actors Guild, etc.). Surprisingly, even though you would assume celebs never go out without bodyguards or a mob of paparazzi trailing them (thus, drawing more attention to themselves), they often do - at least in this area. People in L.A. are more unimpressed by celebrities than it seems by the media coverage, so I never understand why there is always such a fuss made with the press when, for example, Lindsay Lohan is seen coming out of Starbucks. Because, as far as I can see it, when there is a big A-lilster around, no one on the sidewalk is even paying attention. In any case, yes, a lot of them are out there, roaming around, running errands, grocery shopping, walking their dogs, going unnoticed as average citizens. Just in my general area alone, over the years I have seen Nicolas Cage, Renee Zellweger, Kid Rock with Jaime Pressly, Val Kilmer, Tyra Banks, Meg Ryan, Jillian Barberie, Christina Ricci, Lesley Ann Warren, Jaclyn Smith, Kato Kaelin, AC Cowlings (OJ's partner in crime in the Bronco chase), Jeffrey Jones (character actor), Kevin Spacey, Drew Barrymore, Cindy Crawford, Kristina Wagner and Maurice Benard from General Hospital, Paul Stanley of KISS, Sharon Gless, and too many others to remember. Endless. At Disneyland, even though I know they go there, I have not seen anyone really notable - mainly just C-listers or lesser-known actors! I always thought it would be so much easier for them to blend in with the crowds in DLR if they traveled without the Plaids, but they usually have Plaids with them. When I see them around here, they have no security or bodyguards with them.

You can keep an eye out for them, but like others have said don't get your hopes up a lot. That's not saying you won't see them, but it's really hit or miss. I have been many times this year, and I saw, and met a couple. I have met Wee man (jason) from Jacka** on MTV while he would acknowledge you, and no one bothered him his atittude was not great. I met him cause he happend to be right where I was, and complemented him on the series, and movie. If it werent for the movie, and show he really wouldnt be anyone. I have met Bruckheimer that was SHEER LUCK. He had a plaid, but made small conversation with me which floored me but i see them as reg people so I did not get all starstruck. His wife on the other hand was really rude had one of those I am above you things going but he was a completely nice guy. Funny thing is I told him my DH was casting for his new cop show he is trying to get started. Bruckheimer has a new cop show in the works it has not started shooting right now it's in pre production. He got DH name, and said he would make sure he took a personal look at him when the casting agent gets their photos/resumes finished which I thanked him profusely, and said I did not have to do that, but that is a nice man you wouldn't have known who he was as casual as he was. I have seen Octomom also, and well my meeting with her did not go so well. She has ALL the kids, and the 2 y/o that the media always talks about was in the front seat of the stroller, and he looked like he was going to panic. Now I met all these in 1 trip during July, so the park was packed Octomom was YELLING at the top of her lungs across a very crowded sidewalk to her mom, and all the kids who were at the plaza gardens AP center telling her mom she was going to another area and for her to watch the kids, and meet her there. I was honestly shocked as looking at her mom she looked bad frazzled that I wanted to offer help, but I did say something I called her name, and in front of the mass of people I said very clearly you need to stop yelling at your mom, and kids, and watch your own children. It really ticked me off she was acting that way, and to me she's no one important, so I did not feel bad telling her what I thought of her behaviour. In March of this year on DH, and I last day I saw Mellisa Joan Hart at Minnies breakfast. They had her, her dh, and son outside off to the side in a less public noticed section that had shrubs that blocked some view. I got a couple pics from a bit away but where you can see her. she was holding her son, and they were meeting Tigger. I was not going to yell her name, or go ask for an autograph cause she is there trying to be wth her husband, and child having a nice breakfast with the Char at Minnies. Im sure she would have been nice about it, but they r people who just happend to luck out, and get into the acting business, and make it so to me I see it as they r just doing a job to support their family. Since my DH also does acting, and we have been mobbed at both DL, and WDW, and even universal studios, also here where we are from due to my husband looking like Johnny Depp in a big way we get a lot of attention. I had my husband even get asked while we were in line if he would step out of line to take pics with serveral tourist. It started getting to the point where my hubby said nicely we are here for our anniversary, and would rather not be put in a position like that. At one point we thought about spending the bucks for a plaid. My DH does acting along with a reg job, and we are moving out to Cali in the next few weeks. Good luck people watching just keep an eye out not all are with plaids I am still waiting, and praying I catch Zach, and Cody for my son that's 1 disney show we really enjoy. I WONT be watching HMS show in DCA again I have seen it 3 times, and that was mainly to get photos for my son, and I really am trying to cut back my kids watching Hannah. I am not going to be mean about her, but for me her, and her father have went to far honestly with what she gets away with, and supposedly this is supposed to be her last season per what they are saying now if it changes it will be up to her, but from what I heard she wants out, and wants to tour, and sing instead. and honestly I was told by the plaid department that it depends on your celeb status on whether you get a plaid, or special treatment like getting on rides through exits. She said your status would need to be up there pretty good.

I saw a plaid and knew to start looking and found someone famous. If you see a plaid milling about, they usually have someone famous or rich with them

This is interesting, does anyone have a picture of what these "plaids" look like. I have only been to CA once, but I ran into one of the Baldwin brothers at my hotel in LA. I asked him if that's who he was but then I just said hello and left him alone. I imagine it can get pretty frustrating for them to try and have a normal family life!

I have lived in California my entire life and have never seen a movie star. I know there are some known to live in this area, too, but never seen them. Last trip to DLR I kept an eye out for plaids and never recognized anyone with them. Of course, I think I have some sort of disconnect with faces. I often get people confused in movies so maybe I just don't realize who they are. :rotfl:

Plaids are dressed up in a plaid uniform. If you see one, you'll know. :)

I saw several plaids with people/groups when we were at DLR earlier this month and would look at the people with them, but never saw anyone I recognized. :confused3 Which really doesn't mean anything - since when we lived in San Francisco, DH and I were in Chinatown and Raymond Burr walked right by us and I didn't even notice. :lmao: DH saw him and tried to point him out to me, but I still missed him.

I've lived here for about 5 months but I had been out here many times before that. Ironically, The place the I have seen the most stars is at Cedars-Sinai Hospital and UCLA hospital. We see someone everytime we go there (once or twice a week)

We've seen stars at other places like malibu and calabasas but we have family that lives there so we are there quite often.

Now, where I live, I have seen the stars of NCIS and CSI becasue they film in this area and on the campus where I go to school so thats not uncommon up here.

Other than that it's kind of just luck if you see someone and a lot of times you might not even recognize them.

Lostgirlz....please show us a picture of your Johnny Depp look a like hubbie???

But, back to the subject...I once posted a similar question and someone suggested hitting up the Starbucks in Malibu. But, it really is luck and timing.

I have seen alot of stars living in the L.A. area, my favorite was Stone Cold Steve Austin at a Best Buy. He was a real cool guy, we were just talking and recomending movies to eachother for about 15 mins. About 2 weeks ago I saw Adam Sandler at DL, my lil brother got a pic with him. I think all the sightings I've had happened because I somehow noticed them, which was really hard to do cause they dont look exactly like they do on TV. You have to really look at them for awhile to make sure its them, which I can imagine is probably pretty funny to the star. Lol. You just have to keep your eyes open for them and be lucky, its very rare. Your kid will have a lot of fun even if she doesnt see any stars, but good luck.

I work in the film industry, so don't get really starstruck or anything like that, but last March I was in LA on business and literally walked into Neil Patrick Harris in a grocery store in Studio City. He smelled good btw! lol
We saw Cameron Diaz at DL back when Charlies Angels had just come out. She wasn't with a plaid or anything. She was with a guy (boyfriend?) and was on the train with us. She had terrible acne. lol.
