This may be well-known already, but was new to me, and I thought some might find it interesting.
Evidently, Pixar is about to move (in fact, should be doing so now, with the next movie, Ratatouille planned for next summer) into a 1 movie/year release cycle. I think this is well-known. More interesting, though, the plan is (at some undetermined future time) to eventually get to a 2 movie/year release cycle. This will be from just the Pixar branch - the Disney animation branch is supposed to produce an additional 2 movies/year (not clear on whether he meant in-house or if this included the contracted ones, like Valiant), meaning 4 animated movies from Disney/year.
The person telling me this was quite skeptical that it would develop that way in the end, but said that evidently they're working under those assumptions right now...
