Heading to WDW in a couple of weeks for the first time since 2003 and the family wants to go back to Sci-fi where we've eaten on 3 previous visits. While the food was always average, we loved the 'movies'. My 2 questions are:

  • Is the video the same or similar?
  • Is the food as bad as I've read in some posts?

If by the same video you mean a montage of cheesy sci fi clips from the 50's, then yes, it's still the same.

While everyone in my family enjoyed the food, I question to myself whether it is worth a TS credit on free dining.

I got the bacon cheeseburger. It was good, but not the best.

What else was on the menu??

How were the seating arrangements???

Yes, we are going back to Scifi during free dining in Sept. See you there!!

ADR's are strongly recommended for Scifi.

AWESOME, what are your dates??

Called for our ADR!!! The CM told me the Sci-Fi is becoming the most popular rest at DHS...............

BTW reading your TR now...........Good so far..

Yeah, we are currently booked for Sept 11th-23rd.

We are going to Sci-Fi and i have decided to pay out of pocket for this meal even though we are on the free dining for 5 nights. I want to save the TS credit for another place which costs more money (Biergarten).
Also as long as you know its not a gourmet meal but rather a great place for a burger, fries, & shake there should be no disappointments.

Yes the same movies. And yes for dinner the food is not good in my opinion.

We went for lunch in March and we had a great burger, onion rings and a reuben sandwich, I would not say the food was bad at all.

...after a 16 year hiatus (we ate there on our honeymoon). The food in 1993 was horrid. In 2009, however, we LOVED the food. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings while I had a salad (lettuce wedge with bleu cheese and steak - it doesn't seem to be on the menu any more :sad2:). We have put Sci-Fi back on our "must do" list and have ressies for our July trip!

We ate there last week and the food was OK. It wasn't bad and atmosphere, short wait time, and great service made up for the OK food. I had steak, potatoes, and baked beans. DH had ribs with fries. DS had a hot dog, mixed fruit, and fries. We had ADR for the whole week and still had wait times at each restaurant except Sci Fi. We had 6:30 reservations at Chef Mickey, signed in at 6:20 and seated at 7:45. :confused3 I think we may have ordered the wrong things at Sci-Fi because that burger and onion rings look YUMMY! We will eat there again.

Thanks for this post. I was getting nervous after all our reading of stuff about SCI FI and we are trying it for the first time this Aug. We are going for lunch and look foward to the burger and fry and milkshake theme.
Thanks for pics and such too.
;)

A few things have changed (chicken sandwich) and current menus are here:

We LOVED Sci-Fi. The atmosphere was great. My kids were all QUIET. Fabulous place to relax. The food was very good.

If you want a regular car with booths (versus the table between the front and back ends of a car), let them know when you check in. My husband checked in for us, and told them it didn't matter when they asked if we had a preference. Well, it DID matter. My 10yo son was very disappointed at getting the table. I asked if we could wait for a car, so we were walked back out. DH was pretty ticked because he didn't want to wait a half hour for a seat. Turned out to be only about 10 minutes, my son was happy, and dh admitted the wait for booths was well worth it.

Great Tip! :thumbsup2

Its not on the dinner menu (only the lunch one), but do they still serve up their burgers for dinner?

I agree 100% with Tami82. We go every time we are at Disney but we always go for lunch, we always have the burgers, onion rings and shakes and we always pay out of pocket. We normally share our meal since the shakes are very filling. Sometimes we have a desert and share it too. It is a great place and IMHO, the atmosphere is the best!
